Wildlife Park in Ukraine Hit By Bombs, Plea For Supplies for 5,000 Animals

Food, water, generators and fuel are urgently needed for the Feldman Ecopark in Ukraine which has more than 5,000 animals of 300 species under direct threat from Russian troops. The park has been hit by falling ordinance and some of the animals have been injured or killed. Harmony Fund is sending aid immediately. Please read this plea from the park:

“Throughout the country, many Ukrainian civilians are spending days huddled in shelters, basements or corridors,” Yana Gaidai said yesterday. “After botched attempts to seize Kharkiv with small detachments, Russia began bombarding the city with shells, rockets and cluster munitions—which release small bomblets over a wide area—on Monday, inflicting heavy civilian casualties.

“Unfortunately, Feldman Ecopark is situated very close to the Russian border,” Yana continues. “We are doing everything to defend our land and the lives of people, and help the animals. People are hiding in basements, and many abandoned animals. One of the problems that arose as a result of the urgent evacuation was that many people began to leave their pets.”

“Five shells tore in the Feldman Ecopark. It is such a horrible case. Fighting is still going on in the Feldman Ecopark area, so, unfortunately, the losses are not final yet. Some animals were injured, some were killed. Also, enclosures and infrastructure were destroyed. We know that we will restore everything. Now the main thing is to stop the war, save our country, people, and animals.”

“The situation is extremely difficult and we would really appreciate it if you could help and support us now. We need generators, water cleaners, petrol, food, clean water… “
