People should adopt dogs and puppies only if they are willing to take care of their pets regardless of what until the end of the animals’ lifetime. Many adopters, or those who buy pets, do not realise that having pets will come with added expenses and responsibilities. More so, if they have bought a purebred from an unknown breeder. We have over the years come across many dumped pedigrees with various health issues. We dismissed the notion that these dogs are lost pets because almost all of them had health problems that required long term care or expensive surgical intervention. To dump your pet at its hour of need is blatant cruelty. We have also rescued younger pedigrees with serious behavioural issues and we believe they were dumped because they were aggressive or destructive. When you buy inbreed puppies from backyard breeders, severe behavioural issues are quite common. People also dump their very old pets because they are difficult to take care of and can be messy. But just like some very old people, old animals suffer from diminished physical and cognitive ability which does not warrant for them to be disposed like trash. Under such circumstances, it is your turn now to be loyal to your pet which had been loyal to you throughout its lifetime. But many choose to dump them or euthanise them instead of doing whatever is necessary to make their pets’ twilight years happy and comfortable. Please people, please be merciful and stop dumping your pets. They have feelings too and most importantly they will miss you terribly as your pets, especially dogs, tend to love their humans unconditionally.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
