On 30 November 2024, The Spca Received A Call Abou..

On 30 November 2024, the SPCA received a call about a cat found near a rubbish chute, sitting in his own urine and unable to move. When he arrived at the SPCA, 12-year-old Liam was weak and dehydrated. Before our vet could complete his examination, he experienced a seizure and nearly became laterally recumbent (laying on his side, unresponsive). Our team was worried that he would not make it.

However, they acted quickly — administering anti-seizure medication, placing him on IV fluids to stabilise his hydration levels, and giving long-term antibiotics to support his recovery. Liam was also given oral relaxants to keep him comfortable and prevent further stress. Under close monitoring, he showed promising progress. By the very next day, he was able to sit upright and finish his meals, and his seizures had stopped.

Unfortunately, before his release, he developed abdominal and inguinal hernias. Once again, our clinic team stepped in, successfully repairing the hernias through surgery and ensuring he had the post-operative care and pain relief he needed.

Now safe in a home, Liam’s journey is a testament to the impact of timely intervention and dedicated veterinary care. Without that initial call and the efforts of our clinic team, his story could have ended very differently. Help us help more animals; your donation can bring healing and hope to countless animals.

Donate today and be a part of their success story.
