His neighbours claim he had neglected an earlier dog that died. They said he was neglecting an old basset hound and a doberman that were currently in his space. The neighbours also claimed that they were the ones feeding the dogs most of the time. So they opened the gate for the dogs to escape and organised a rescue. The basset hound is with us. The man messaged us asking for the dog. We asked him about the alleged dead dog but he evaded the question. Then he set the Adun’s office on us followed by the police. Now he has set two of his friends on us who are writing volumes in his defence.

Our advice to the neighbours:

1. Make a mass DVS report supporting their allegation and demand the DVS to open a case, investigate and if there was a basis – to charge the man under the Animal Welfare Act.

Our advice to the man:

1. Make a statutory declaration or a sworn statement denying the allegations that he had neglected a previous dog which led to its death

2. Confront all his neighbours

3. Seek legal advice on his friends’ claims of tresspass

As for MDDB, we don’t care about the man nor his neighbours. Our only concern is the doggo’s welfare. We will also not be cowed by big talk by anyone. Doggo will remain with us until further notice.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
