Agildo Was Only Three Months Old When He Was Rescu..

Agildo was only three months old when he was rescued from the streets and brought to our shelter back in 2016. He was covered in fleas, his fur was patchy and he had reportedly been abandoned. What a tough start to life. But things got better when he met Soi Dog volunteer Emily… Here’s Agildo’s #furrytailending story as told by her:

“I decided to volunteer at Soi Dog back in 2018. Spending a month at Soi Dog was the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done, and something I will remember forever.

I spent my days walking each of the dogs, relaxing in the run and cuddling between walks. Agildo was a nervous dog and he tended to keep to himself. However, as time went on, I could tell that he was curious and he wanted to approach me (with caution). Until we started going to the off-leash area, I didn’t realise how much potential he had. He would come and sit next to me which really touched my heart, and eventually, I was able to stroke him.

By the end of my time at Soi Dog, Agildo would greet me at the gate when I arrived in the morning and it was at that point, I decided I couldn’t leave him forever. I needed to bring him home, I wanted to give him the life he deserves and allow him to be that dog I spent time with in the off-leash area, always.❤

Agildo has come such a long way and I’m so incredibly proud of him. He is thriving here in the UK, he loves to be off lead and we hike and explore at every given opportunity. I call him my little snail because he moves at the same pace as one, he would spend the entire day outside sniffing if it was up to him.

Agildo welcomed a fur sister into our home in 2020 and they are the best of friends! He looked at her as if she was an alien when she first arrived but now they are inseparable.

Over time, Agildo has learnt to trust new people, once he takes a treat from you, that’s it, he will love you forever! All of the local dog walkers love Agildo, he’s majestic and gentle and once he lets you in, it really is a privilege.

I cannot thank Soi Dog enough, for rescuing Agildo, for taking care of him until I found him and for all the work they do for the dogs in Thailand. I know that not all of the dogs at the shelter will be rescued but I do know that even if they don’t find their forever home, they are very fortunate to be at Soi Dog where they are all equally loved and cared for ❤️”
