Mina was healthy until recently, we noticed that she has gotten skinny and she was drooling around the mouth. We brought her for a check-up at Kota Damansara Vet on 22nd June 2022.
The blood test for Mina shows that she has very low blood and protein count in her body. She was also dehydrated and has rotten teeth.
Base on Dr. Teoh's diagnosis (she can't be 100% sure what is the illness Mina is having yet), Mina could either be having
1. Lysis
2. Liver Failuer
3. FIP
Dr. Teoh initially suggested hospitalizing Mina for her treatment, which the bill comes up to an estimation of RM1600 for 3 days of hospitalization. We could not afford the fees and we are not sure how Mina's treatment/how long the recovery journey going to take. Therefore we asked for outpatient treatment at our home for Mina.
Dr. Teoh suggests that we start treating Mina for the Lysis first and see her progress. We were prescribed a 7 days course of Antibiotic for that and a pain killer for her sore mouth/rotten teeth. Due to Mina's condition, she is not fit to go for tooth extraction surgery at the moment.
This visit to the Vet for Mina came up to RM625, which is a bit heavy on our finance.
We will need to bring Mina back for a follow-up check-up once she finishes her medication, which is on 1st July 2022, to see her progress. We are estimating this follow-up appointment is going to cost us around the same price as the 1st visit, due to the blood test that I'm sure we will have to do for Mina in order to see her progress from the initial treatment.
As we are tight on funds, we are appealing to the public to help us with the fee for this follow-up appointment.
As Dr. Teoh estimates that Mina's recovery journey is going to take a bit of time (and the cost that we will have to bear), we are also looking for a kind soul to help us with the coming medical expense.
*Mina's background*
Mina is a community stray cat at the apartment where I live. She was 'introduced' to us by another male community cat around 3rd quarter of 2020. Later on, she got pregnant and we found Mina and her 2 kittens around Jan 2021.
We then arranged for Mina's spaying and the adoption of her 2 kittens around Feb. Both her kittens were successfully adopted in Feb 2021. We have also posted for Mina's adoption on social media but no one has asked for her. We continue to care for her as we can, i.e. putting out food & water for her outside of our apartment unit every day and spending some time with her. This has been our routine since then. Mina mostly hangs out either outside our/neighbor's apartment unit, on the staircase, or Ground floor of our apartment block.
Mina is a very very gentle cat, her meows are so soft and she is playful and curious too. Her favorite food is chicken, especially the ones we bought from the Mamak shop outside of our apartment :) She loves chin rub, some bum bum petting, and just quiet time sitting together with her favorite human.

*We have 3 cats ourselves and we are also feeding other community cats around our apartment block. We hope to get a helping hand in treating Mina's condition*
