A big THANK YOU to our terrapin adopters!
Each time you adopt a terrapin, you're helping us purchase a microchip. (Instead of giving our terrapins names, we give them a phone number, how cool is that?)
We'll insert a microchip into the terrapins before we release them into the river, so that when they return to nest (insyaAllah), we will be able to identify the individuals!

One of the most dangerous aspects of our work is this—removing a hook that is lodged in a turtle.
This softshell turtle was surrendered to us because it had a fishing hook lodged deep inside its mouth. It took us quite a while to remove it, and at the same time, we were worried for our fingers because they're known to be ambush feeders (they can extend their mouth and neck very quickly to catch a prey). But Dylan managed to remove the hook!
