Zurik’s Check-Up – A Minor Setback

We just came home from Zurik’s check-up today.
There is a minor setback.
Zurik’s weight was 5.0kg on the clinic scale, which is an increase of 300g from two weeks ago. However, since Monday, I’ve noticed a slight bulge in his abdomen and the vet felt this too and it felt like a bulge of liquid. The significant increase in weight is probably due to some fluid build-up.

These two dogs ( female and Male ) are fed by Mr Chan at Meh Liew Thai temple, jalan Pahang. Mr Chan is a retiree and he’s the care taker of the temple, a female dog gave birth to these two dogs in the temple and he took care of them since. they have a good life there. Mr Chan reached out to us for help to neuter them. Though retired, Mr Chan still forked out Rm150 for their neutering costs. YOU COULD BE HER LUCKY STAR
In February 2019, Lucky, a female black and white local cat, of approximately five years old, was found on the streets by a concerned couple. She was badly injured and was unable to move, so the couple rushed her to a private veterinary clinic. Her injuries were so severe that she had to undergo specialist orthopaedic surgery.
Thankfully, and miraculously, Lucky recovered and was sent to the SPCA in hopes of finding her a fur-ever home.

Zurik’s Portraits

Tomorrow is Zurik’s check-up at the vet’s. It would be 77 days after diagnosis.
Two weeks ago, we took another bold step and tapered down his steroids to 2.5mg once in two days. Tomorrow, we shall see if there is any further fluid build-up or it is status quo (as it had been for the past 56 days).
I can only hope that tomorrow will be another milestone for Zurik.

Heidi And Her Tunnel

If you remember, after Ginger (our prime suspect, that is) sprayed massively on Heidi’s tunnel, Heidi refused to enter her tunnel again. This was after we cleaned and sunned the tunnel.
So, the tunnel was left uninhabited for weeks.
Until yesterday…..
All it took was just to move the tunnel to a different location, and Heidi went in again, but Ginger followed suit. I think Ginger is very jealous of Heidi’s tunnel.

We Brought Our Interns To The Turtle Conservation ..

We brought our interns to the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre in Rantau Abang. There's so much information in the centre, their exhibits are nicely done and there are a few selfie/wefie areas.

If you haven't been, it's a good place to learn about sea turtles and painted terrapins, as well as the threats that they face, conservation efforts taken by @dofmalaysia and the relevant legislation that are protecting these turtles.
