The Dog Blood Donor

Late last night, a neighbour posted in our neighbourhood chatgroup that he needed a dog blood donor very urgently for his pet dog who is hospitalised.
Immediately, I thought of PAWS because previously, when Sihui’s dog, Brownie, needed a blood donor, PAWS offered their big and robust dogs. However, it was found that the dogs had underlying tick fever, so the dogs could not donate.

The Magic…..(Bunny’s Creatinine Level) – Thank You, Cubgrub!!

I got Bunny’s blood test results today and I couldn’t believe my eyes!
His creatinine level went from 199 (in Sept 2019) to 134 (yesterday)! His urea also went down and his phosphate level is normal!!!!
And what did we do from Sept until now?
We only did one thing – put all the cats, including Bunny, on 100% raw food. Cubgrub!
No supplements. No medication. Continued with the subcut, of course. That’s all.

300,000 is the number of trees that we’ve planted over a 10-year period to restore the degraded forest of Bukit Piton.
Some of the trees we’ve planted include fast growing species like Laran (Neolamarckia cadamba) and Binuang (Octomeles sumatrana) as well as hardwood species like Urat mata (Parashorea sp) and Kapur (Dryobalanops sp).
Planting trees have not been without their challenges but we’ve persevered through them.

WHAT Are You Feeding Me Now???

I added just two pellets of the Fibor to Indy’s Fillet Plus this morning and he ate AROUND them.
But, this morning, I found him pooping at 5.30am and the stools looked “nice”! They were just slightly soft, but the colour is back to normal and it was well-formed. I think there was no mucus too and I checked – no blood! For once, no blood!!
So, could it be the Fibor doing its work? I don’t know for sure. I force-fed the Fibor at 6pm yesterday.

CKD: Indy (stage 1), Bunny (stage 2)

We took Indy and Bunny for their urinalysis today.
Indy was also due for his once -a-week B12 jab.
The results:
Indy’s urine SG is slightly above the borderline at 1.036 (it should be above 1.035), so that is good, but his proteinurea (UPC) is AT the borderline of 0.3. This means there is a slight protein leakage.
What needs to be done for him: At this moment, nothing yet. We’ve stopped the subcut since his creatinine went down to 115. Indy’s is classified as Stage 1 CKD ...

'June' came in for a health check up and to assess her sore paw. We discovered she has an ear infection and skin allergies causing irritation to her paws. Given she's young, we discussed possibility of underlying food allergy and putting her on an exclusive elimination diet. She is beyond adorable and full of love.
