Love is Ageless, and ensuring your Senior Pet's health is essential! As the person who knows your pet better than anyone else, you’re the best advocate for his/her health. It’s important to share any changes you’ve noticed, for that matter, with your veterinarian. The vet will then thoroughly check for any behavioural, social or physical changes, then recommend a course of preventive care where apt. Do be on the alert for the subtle signs so you can act on these by taking these up with...

"Because no amount of testing will do, if you never saw how beautiful you already are." These animals used in tests for us, if they were allowed to be around us to fill our days with their kind if love, which asks for no returns instead of in a test laboratory. I know... beauty would never be a lack in our lives - you are beautiful. #notoanimaltesting

The team quickly reacted with accordance to the macaques facial expressions and body language, while still keeping a respectable distance between the macaques. The macaques have been entering the condo premises due to availability of food. Its been a week since the herding and residents have given positive fee...

KUTTY, a rescued Lutino Lovebird, finds love at last (in Saraswati's family)! Better yet, Kutty's found her lifelong soulmate in her canine chum, AH BENG! Rescued as an injured, starved little bird from Changi (in May 2014), Kutty has been fostered and nursed to good health, under the care of an SPCA officer Mr Kumar. Bunny’s Secret Small Meals
23rd Sep 2014, by AnimalCare

I figured one way to give Bunny his small meals is to take him out and feed him in the kitchen. Hopefully, the rest won’t know and won’t ask for food too. Poor Bunny vomited again after dinner this evening, so I have to give him small meals for the rest of the evening. Here’s his one Primal nugget meal. I noticed that if the food is wet, his tendency to vomit is greater, so it looks like I have to give him dry meals. Maybe when it’s dry, the volume is smaller. Bunny is ...

Ginger’s Visit
23rd Sep 2014, by AnimalCare

A few times a day, Ginger would sit right outside the grille asking to be let into Bunny’s room. His wish is granted today… I let Ginger walk into the room by himself today. Cleo charged at him but Ginger stood his ground by standing tall. I know for sure Cleo will not bite, so she’s okay. From the bench, Ginger climbed onto the apartment and sat himself down comfortably on Level 1. Bunny was napping after one of his small meals. Indy looked. Ginger also looked. Now, thatR...

The Sanctuary Revamp continues and volunteers turned up to help out through the sweltering heat to help us . We continued to construct the new brick wall for the enclosures and planted more plants/shrubs to provide shade to the animals. We also revamped Peanut(Red-footed tortoise's) enclosure. We spread the plants in his enclosure and constructed a new concrete pond for him to soak in. The concrete pond which was done up by the volunteers also had a pipe and valve installed to make water changes...

SOS! PUPPIES DUMPED @ SPCA. -------------------------------------------- ---- 5 puppies were dumped by two men yesterday outside SPCA. Our staff had to chase one man down and grab his arm to get him to stop. We tried very hard to reason with them, but their last response was "Bring me back the puppies, I go toss them in the river". Why do people behave so irresponsibly? Attached is a picture of the puppies. They're only about 2-3 weeks old. Please contact us at 42565312 if you can give one of...

Cat rescued from a tree, somewhere in Ang Mo Kio Earlier today (Sep 23, 2014), we were alerted to a cat seen perched on the high branches of a tree there. The kitty was suspected to be in distress, as related to us by our informers. Our rescue pair, upon arriving at the scene, appraised how they could reach the kitty with their longer catchpole. A ladder was deployed too for this rescue mission. Applying some strategy and well-timed movements, they succeeded in hauling the cat to safety, a...

Happy Tails From SPCA!

MALITA & CHAMILLA Photo: BFFs Malita with Chamilla! Inset: Chamilla recovering but looking woeful! Chamilla the puppy came to the SPCA extremely tiny with bad skin problems. She had been brought over from the East of Malaysia. Some complications arose with the previous owner and so our senior volunteer, Malita took it upon herself to foster the puppy until she was older and in better health. Even though she was of a small size, Chamilla had a lot of spunk! She would hold her own against mu...

Volunteers!

NIGEL TAM Q: Tell us a little about yourself. A: I’m a small soul about 165cm in height just trying to help out. Q: What made you volunteer with the SPCA? A: I always wanted a doggy friend, but my mom didn’t. So she tried to scare me by sending me there. But it backfired and I loved it. Q: Who is your favorite animal at the SPCA, and why? A: Reggie. He was my dog pillow. I put in loads of time training and playing with him. He was friendly, loyal and lovable. Miss him! Just chilling and h...

Gen-X And Gen-Y Cats
23rd Sep 2014, by AnimalCare

Daffodil is very partial towards Rosie. She is always grooming Rosie and we have never seen her reprimanding Rosie for anything. But she paws Ginger on the head very often, probably reprimanding him for gallivanting to the roof. And Ginger would allow himself to be reprimanded by his mum. Ginger always lets his mum have his blankie. What a good boy! This is a very rare photo of mother and son together. Gen-X and Gen-Y – look at the size difference!

Bunny’s Eating Problem
23rd Sep 2014, by AnimalCare

Bunny is still having his vomiting problem. I’ve been trying all kinds of ways to prevent the vomiting. First, I thought it was the wet food, so I stopped giving him that and change to another brand. But after a few days of no vomiting, he began to vomit out the new wet food as well. He would vomit out his main meals, and usually, it’s breakfast. Sometimes, dinner too. And this usually happens about one-and-a-half hours after eating. It’s undigested food. But immediately after ...
