This dog was dumped at our new center today. A family came in and wanted to surrender their dog. They said that they didn't have time to take care of him and that they were going to adopt a puppy instead. We explained that puppies take much more time to take care of than grown up dogs, and furthermore that it was cruel to the dog to abandon him for something younger and cuter. A fantastic photo of Akira taken by one of our volunteers!
Akira is for adoption - a stray dog found with a horrible maggot wound on his shoulder, a kind soul rescued him and got him all better again. Fully recovered now, he's looking for a forever home! Poor Jeffery was dumped on the road and barely saved from being run over by a kind driver. He's 8-10 years old with a terrible skin condition. Is this what happens when a dog is too old, sick and not cute anymore?
If any special person can find it in their heart to care for an unwanted, abandoned poodle - please come visit Jeffery at our center. He deserves better!

MOCHA, the Cross-Breed Cutie
Mocha, a brown/tan cross-breed puppy, was brought to our shelter a year ago, on 12 April 2014, shortly after being found (possibly abandoned) at Defu Lane, with her 5 siblings, all in a box filled with dirty, murky water. Easily also the runt of the litter, and merely less than three weeks old then, Mocha was not yet ready for adoption.
