If you can donate to help us buy a bowl or a bag of food, we'd be so grateful. Whether you can donate $20 or $200, your help will provide animals with the meals they eat with such delight. The volunteers in Romania, Serbia, Greece, Thailand, Bosnia, Turkey, Zimbabwe and beyond are counting on us to continue this monthly...

Seriously After Meeting 'Kai', I Grow Even More Fo..
31st May 2015, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal

Seriously after meeting 'Kai', I grow even more fond of the canine species. Poor thing just had her nose almost chopped off by another dog and was still wagging her tail and seeking pats and treats. She required emergency cosmetic surgery to place her right nostril back into position. And voila this is her post operative picture with her brighter than ever. You wouldn't even know she has been through so much trauma. Gosh I love dogs. <3 <3

Reaching Out To The Young
31st May 2015, by AnimalCare

Yesterday evening, I was invited to address a group of young Buddhists at the Buddhist Gem Fellowship. They were 12-17 year olds. It was an informal gathering codenamed “Whispers of the Heart” where the participants wrote down their questions anonymously and I would answer them. Their questions were very interesting, challenging (for me!) and even unexpected! It was an eye-opener for me, especially when I would readily confess that I am a little bit out of touch with the last of Ge...

ARE NATURE RESERVES IMPORTANT TO YOU? 71% of Singaporeans say that nature reserves are important to them, in a survey commissioned by ACRES and conducted independently by Millward Brown early this year. Although of Singapore’s 707 sq km only 0.25% comprises nature reserves, Singapore is still home to a wonderfully rich biodiversity. These nature reserves are home to more than half of our 3,196 recorded native animal species. Sadly, 77% of Singapore’s wild animal species are threatened, ...

Releasing Animals Into Wild Does More Harm Than Good
30th May 2015, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

HOW TO ENSURE THAT TRUE KINDNESS IS SHOWN THIS VESAK DAY Kindness begets kindness. But sometimes, our kind intentions might actually not be so kind after all and may be exploited. Take the act of releasing animals into the wild to celebrate Vesak Day: while the intention is noble, the act is actually very harmful to the animals and the environment. The release of non-native animals harms our native ecosystem. And often the animals sold for release have been cruelly captured from the wild. This...
