NEW ZEALAND LEGALLY RECOGNISES ANIMALS AS SENTIENT BEINGS
Non-human animals are now formally recognised as “sentient beings” in New Zealand, following landmark changes to animal welfare legislation.

PARENTAL CARE IN MACAQUES
Long-tailed macaque mothers are the primary caregivers of their infants and are very protective of them, not allowing newborns out of their grasp. During the first weeks of life, the mother maintains contact with her infant almost constantly, but as the infant ages the amount of contact decreases. By the time the infant is four months old, the mother spends significantly less time in contact with the infant and begins to exhibit normal ovarian cycles again. By the time...

Shelter Dogs Make Modern Art to Raise Adoption Awareness
Forget Beethoven. For these pups, it's perfectly all right to shake to their hearts' content.
A new art campaign called Canismo has given creative freedom to a group of dogs in an effort to raise awareness about the plight of shelter dogs in Brazil. WHY YOUR CAT WAKES YOU EARLY IN THE MORNING:
----- CATS ANSWER THIS AGE-OLD QUESTION ------
"Maybe today is the day we'll chase a dragonfly across the garden and run up the stairs with the squeaky toy.
Maybe today is the day you'll hold me and kiss me the way you did when I was a kitten.
Maybe today is the day you'll notice that I'm getting older and I need you to notice that limp, that wheeze, that lump on my side."
- How will you respond when your cat wakes you this morning?
