We have good news from one of our Turtle Guardian, Ying Cheing!
The data collected from our satellite telemetry tracking efforts of 15 turtles is now up on State of the World's Sea Turtles' (SWOT) database! The satellite telemetry data collected since August 2006 - September 2013 on 15 hawksbill turtles have enabled us to identify "Important Turtle Areas" along Straits of Malacca. The ACRES 24-hour Wildlife Crime and Rescue Hotline was alerted of a Bengal slow loris abandoned in Bedok reservoir by a member of the public on February this year. This species of primate is not native to Singapore and was smuggled into the country for the illegal wildlife trade. The loris was in critical condition and despite the critical care provided by ACRES, the slow loris passed away.

WOMAN BIKES 200 MILES WITH INJURED DOG IN BASKET
What an astounding story of love and devotion. Ishbel was cycling across Turkey when she found poor Lucy being attacked by other dogs in the street. Rather than just break up the fight momentarily and walk away, Ishbel fashioned a basket for the dog and applied amazing strength to take her on a 200 mile bike ride, and to ultimately find her a home abroad.

HIDDEN DANGER TO YOUR CAT IN YOUR LAUNDRY CLOSET
Every year many cats are badly burned or even killed by laundry dryers. The cats either jump into the dryer playfully when it's being loaded or, if the dryer door is sometimes left open, they curl up in there for a nap. Kittens are notorious for this. Preschoolers will often innocently put a cat into the dryer when their mom's attention is diverted. Just today we heard of another cat who died this way.
