Meet Brownie. She is a shy girl. What shown in the pictures are before and after of working with her an average of 1 hour a day, for only a week: bringing her out for a walk on leash, play with other dogs, cuddle her; and look at her! On 20th August she kept running away from people, had to shoot her from quite far away. After just 8 days, we can get very close to her, hug her, shoot her from upclose and she will even pose for you and smile! Thanks to our volunteers Malitha, Jo, John and Jenny f...

Adopted from our shelter almost three years ago, Mabel is now enjoying her home and getting all the love she deserves. She may not be the perfect dog, but her family understands that no one is perfect, and that's no reason to give up on a family member. We think they couldn't be more right. Read Mabel's happy ending here - http://www.spca.org.sg/services_adoption_happyendi ng.asp
Thank you Felice for sharing your happy ending with us! It's always great to hear from families who have adopted f...

The Catnip Conference Continues… 26th Aug 2013, by AnimalCare
As everyone was busy at the Catnip Conference, suddenly I heard the sound of a wild cat screaming in the porch. It was a catfight, no doubt about it.
Mr Zurik!!!! You again!!
I rushed to the window and lo and behold….who did I see?
It was Willy!
Willy had braved the odds (or was he just so hungry?) and had come in through the gate only to have Dame Heidi fend him off. I tell you, this madame has quite a screech.
So I quickly brought some food for Willy and I was really hoping that th...

At The Catnip Conference This Afternoon… 26th Aug 2013, by AnimalCare
Connie had painstakingly grown the catnip for me as my hopeless fingers could not even make them sprout.
This is the latest pot, but it looked much better the day Connie brought it over.
I caught Ginger plucking out the shoots this afternoon, so I quickly stuffed them back into the soil.
I’m trying to grow some catnip too, from the young shoots. The one on the left is wheatgrass and that’s easy. Anyone can grow wheatgrass.
So, since Ginger (and don’t know who else) is likely ...

Who Is That Thumping On The Roof?? 26th Aug 2013, by AnimalCare
We’ve been hearing loud thumping noises on the roof lately. It would be like the sound of a sack of rice falling onto the roof. And the Bunny and everyone would be immediately on red alert.
So this had been happening a few times a day. I was very sure it was Mr G. You know how big he is and that would explain the loud sound.
Last night, it rained urine from the edge of the roof!
Yes, again. It had happened before and it was definitely Mr G. He stood at the edge of the roof of the pantry an...

At the SPCA, we believe in positive reinforcement training. But for the uninitiated, what exactly is positive reinforcement? Kang Nee, a certified professional dog trainer who works with us to help the dogs in our shelter, shares more.
Positive Reinforcement Training...
What it is:

Reported by Tammy Geerdts of Wisconsin
http://animalrescuechase.com/rescue_sho wcase/story.php?id=717
My husband and I came across this large buck as we were walking our dogs through a parkway near our house. It was the middle of the day and the deer was half submerged in the pond. We got a closer look and realized he had something wrapped around his antlers and it was trailing about 100 feet behind him. It was a white, nylon strap.
We ran home...
