Breakfast Time! 18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
This morning's breakfast: Uncle Bobby supervises, as always. And of course, he gets the leftovers, too! Rex seems to know something's happening....since last night. He is the "big brother" of the litter, and certainly does the job. What leftovers, says Uncle Bobby... I'm eating with you guys today. The baby of the family still wants to suck from the bottle. Kibbles for everyone. I've bought a new pack of RC Baby Cat for them, as a gift for them today.&nbs...

A Sharing: A Poem To My Foster Dog 18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Lydia sent this to me late last night. Thank you, Lydia.Hi Kah Yein,I just wanted to say I know how you feel wanting to spend every precious moment with your Sunshine Kits before they go off on their new journey. It echos what we as fosterers feel again and again. And as much as it never gets easier, it gives us the hope and strength to do it all again when we know its all a better new beginning and a fair chance for our fellow earth inhabitants.I'd like to share this with you as it's...

Dr Veeranoot Rehomes 4 Of Kwanjit's Kittens To A Cat Sanctuary 18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Two days ago (the day the 5 kittens were dumped at my front gate), we had planned a trip to accompany Dr Veeranoot to Segambut's cat sanctuary to rehome four of Kwanjit's six kittens. Dr Veeranoot rescued Kwanjit off the streets in Section 17, PJ, on a rainy day. At that time, Kwanjit was pregnant. The kind doctor gave Kwanjit a home and a safe and comfortable place to give birth.....to 6 kittens! We have been trying to get the kittens rehomed, but 4 are jet-black and 2 black-an...

Amber Horsey Had Tick Fever 18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Updates on Amber Horsey:Horsey (her earlier name) was rescued by Joanne Lim, brought to our panel vet and found to have a compound fracture in her back leg which required amputation. The amputation was done and Lydia has been fostering Horsey (renamed Amber) since then, pending her rehoming. Recently, Amber Horsey came down with tick fever. She has since been treated, but it would be good for all of us to know what the symptoms are.Lydia writes:Here are some photos of Amber and...

The Sunny Kittens' Last Night With Me 18th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Tomorrow, the Sunny Kittens will go to Rozita's home. Rozita has been sending me text messages, telling me how excited her two daughters are, at the prospect of having Rex, Fox and Honeybear. As I sit here, reluctant to leave them as this is their last night with me, as though she could read my mind, Punitha sends me this heart-warming email, which I just received minutes ago:Dear Dr.Chan,I think all of us who've been reading and following up on the Sunny kittens have you to thank, first an...

A Football Game For The Sunny Kittens 17th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Ming-Yi is back and after having been gone for just 3 days, she says the Sunny Kittens are so much bigger now. I'm beginning to think Rex has some affinity with Calculus....from a previous life, perhaps... Ming-Yi made some paper footballs for them to play with. They love it! Yay!! It's definitely more fun than the store-bought ball with a bell. And...Rex gets the ball....no, wait...it's Fox. Yes, Fox has the ball now and she's heading straight for the...

The 5 Kittens 17th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
I went to check on the 5 kittens this afternoon. They were sleeping when I reached the clinic, but got up later and started to play. One of them has the flu, another is also coming down with it. A friend has found me a fosterer, but since they have the flu, I decided to let the vet treat them first. Get well soon, little kitties.

Honeybear Invents A New Game! 17th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Honeybear has been getting more and more mischievous (read: simply adorable). This afternoon, he found a new toy to play with.Note: Do not be alarmed that it is a plastic bag. I'm watching them closely. I had just removed a tshirt and tucked the plastic bag behind the boxes. Honeybear was so attracted to it and... Honeybear pulled the plastic bag from behind the box all the way out while Fox and Rex watched closely, not quite sure what this new thing is.... He i...

Jenny's Drinking And Eating....so Well! 17th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
I think the photos will speak for themselves! Hey Jenny!Jenny is an extremely grateful dog, because when the senior vet went in with me to see her, she sat up, came to the door of the cage and wagged her tail so, so happily. The vet said seeing how well she is now, she could go home right now!She doesn't seem to have much trouble coping with the amputation. After all, she had been living with only 3 usable legs for a long time. The vet said they found a lot of pus in the w...

Jenny's Surgery Went Well....towards The End 17th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
The vet just called minutes ago. Jenny's surgery ended well and she is now awake. However, things did not go well DURING the surgery. The moment the anaesthesia was administered, she turned very pale, her breathing became erratic, and during the surgery, she bled a lot. It was also very difficult to do the amputation as the leg was so badly deformed, the musculature difficult to be ascertained. These complications were unexpected as her bloodwork had been good. This ...

Fight On, Kuda! 17th Jun 2011, by MDDB & MCCP Penang
Here are the videos of Kuda taken after he was discharged from the veterinary clinic. He is currently under the care of our rescuer, Fen Ying. He is seemingly more relax compared to being caged 24/7 at the clinic. We know that it's still a long way to recovery but with the support of many people around the world, we shall not give up in helping Kuda. And we know Kuda will not give up on himself, too.FIGHT ON, KUDA!
