Twice Lucky 8th Aug 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
I would love to share with you the story of my neighbor’s chicken or as we call it here down under ’chook’. Jesse has two pet chooks in her well enclosed backyard. It is a hobby farming area with homes back to back. I was driving out to work one morning and my neighbor came running towards my car holding a chook wrapped up in a towel.
She was very distressed and felt terrible to ambush me.
She explained to me that her chooks had been attacked between 2 and 3 a.m. and she had...

Puppy Fosterer Needed (VERY URGENT) 8th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/08/visi ting-tvt-dog-at-local-shelter.htmlI have just found out today, from our vets, that the 5 puppies should not be kept together with the mum-dog who has TVT as TVT spreads through contact. Hence, I have informed the shelter about it and the puppies need to be isolated from the mother, given a bath and hand-fed. The shelter needs a fosterer VERY urgently to save these puppies. The mother-dog can then be treated with chemotherapy jabs. Please hel...

From Stephanie Chung:Dear Dr Chan We have saved a young female dog from the streets recently, spayed and vaccinated her. She is currently receiving further treatment at a vet centre in Kepong. As she has such a naturally sweet and loving nature, the vet has recommended that we find her a good home instead of sending her to a dog farm. Could you help us to rehome her? Please contact us at 016 680 3203/ 016 680 1713/ 03 6274 6594. We appreciate your help on this matter. We have attached her p...

Helping Pak Din 8th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
Now, let's do more useful things and think of ways to help Pak Din and his puppies, shall we?Chew told me yesterday when I met up with him that Pak Din's 2 adult dogs have died at the vet's. The cause of death is poisoning. This piece of news changes things now. I don't think it is wise to let the puppies grow up in such a place, especially when they would certainly roam freely (Pak Din doesn't have any proper place, he lives in a shack) and be subject to being poisoned. So, yesterday even...

While We Spay-Neuter, Some People Prefer The "Natural" Way 8th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
I went over just now to speak with the distant neighbour whose kitten was run down on the road a few days ago. I offered him to help spay-neuter all his pet cats. I'll pay, I said. The mother of all cats, Cash, was there, and he said she is probably pregnant again. It has only been two months after Cash's last delivery. I had been liaising with the girl who co-owns Cash, reminding her to bring Cash for spaying, but looks like we've missed the boat again. The girl also said she didn't ...

A Strange Case Of A Dumped Golden Retriever 8th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare
Someone called me yesterday, quite frantically too. Apparently, a Golden Retriever had been dumped in her house compound. This someone explained that perhaps another neighbour had taken some other neighbour's Golden and dumped it on her.I did not want to hear the complicated details of her neighbours' brawl. Can we just talk about the dog? She kept saying she could not keep this dog as she already has her own dog. So, okay, let's concentrate on what we can do to help this allegedly d...

Another sad and horrible case that we’ve encountered! This poor little dog named Xiao Qiang was found by a kind hearted lady two days ago behind a staircase.
