Anaemia In Cats – Looking For Erythropoietin For Baggy 9th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
I found this site: http://www.floppycats.com/anemia-in-cats.ht ml
Also, if you happen to let your cat outdoors, you might notice an odd behavior of licking rain water or melted snow. They are craving minerals if they are anemic, and try to acquire such minerals from those sources.
This explains why Baggy was licking the spade, the soil, and today, she only wanted to drink water from the tiles and not from a container. Maybe she thought it was rain water.
I’m trying to get the drug Erythr...

Baggy Thanks Everyone For The Positive Wishes 9th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/08/09/baggy-has -leukemia-and-there-is-little-hope-left/
Baggy was diagnosed with leukemia this afternoon (the blood test showed a “strong positive”) and the vet says the prognosis was very poor even based on the paleness of her mucous membrane and gums. The severity of her condition came as a shock to me as she had not shown any signs of weakness except for the paleness.
But we are definitely not giving up and currently, Baggy is on steroids, Hi-Vi...

GOODBYE LITTLE ALICIA...
It's been such a sad week at the shelter. Two of our long term residents have sadly passed away. We brought you the sad news of dear little Emmy earlier this week & now poor little Alicia has died.
Alicia lived in our Hotel run. She was an extremely quiet, timid little girl who liked her own company. She had her own little kennel which she guarded jealously. She learned to love treats from volunteers & if you gave her one, she'd run back to her kennel to keep it saf...

Baggy Has Leukemia (and The Prognosis Is Poor) 9th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
My worst fears were realised today and it explains why Baggy has been losing weight and is still very pale.
Baggy is FeLV positive. Her blood PCV is only 8% now. She is extremely pale. The vet says she is already dying and there is nothing we can do.
The only thing we can give to help her is Prednisolone (steroids), RetroMAD1 and a liver supplement called Hi-Vite. The Doxycycline will have to be continued as well. I’m also giving her AD.
The vet says she is very pale and her body is not ma...

DAK - A SOI DOG BEAUTY... 9th Aug 2012, by Soi Dog Foundation
Dak is a pretty girl, approx 6 years old. She's been at the shelter here in Phuket for 5 years now. She's quiet & a little bit shy. She likes the easy life - very easy going with the other dogs & keeps out of trouble. She originally came from the government dog pound. She's such a lovely girl & we'd love to see her curled up on someone's couch. She's done her time at the shelter & now needs a loving home. Dak's spent almost her entire life at the shelter, so would probably have no idea how to ...

苏菲亚 SOPHIA 9th Aug 2012, by Homeless & Orphan Pets Exist (HOPE)
Sophia was rescued from Batu Pahat (BP) by our volunteer recently. She was lying side way, with stinky smell from her seriously injured foreleg. The wounds were badly infected and full with pus, even with broken bones stuck out from the flesh. We can barely see any motivation for life in her eyes but only great pain, hopeless and loneliness.... Do you want to know why Sophia was in this stage of life? According to the locals, this is all thanks to the dog catchers from local council, her brok...

To Neuter Or Not To Neuter – Is There Still A Question? 8th Aug 2012, by AnimalCare
Mrs Wong shared this: http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/l eisure/2012/08/07/to-neuter-or-not-to-neuter/
We 8217;ve written many times about the benefits of getting animals neutered, but it doesn’t hurt to arm ourselves with the latest statistics to convince others to do it too.
According to the article above, 5 million unwanted animals are euthanised every year in Malaysian shelters (by simple arithmetic, the 575 figure per day in the article seems to be wrong). Even if that fig...
