CARING FOR NEWBORN PUPPIES AND KITTENS
The SPCA often receives motherless newborn or very young (under four weeks old) community puppies and kittens.
The number is greater for kittens as cats breed up to four times a year, whereas dogs give birth to two litters a year.
We help these animals by giving them the best chance of survival, which also means finding them a temporary home under a fosterer.
Learn more about caring for newborn puppies and kittens at this link http://spca.org.sg/pet...

Mata's Kuching 21st Oct 2016, by SPCA Singapore
“MATA'S KUCHING”
On a cool October morning, a traffic police officer visited SPCA with a delivery of four kittens. These four kittens were found in a broken-down vehicle on a highway earlier in the day and they were all covered in soot.
At first sight, all four kittens had a very unusual greyish-orange coat. The rainy weather and the adventures of the morning made the kittens very hungry and they had two helpings of food before settling down for a nap. As it was a cold day, they were ba...

CAT PROOFING YOUR HOME
In view of the recent kitten rescue from a ledge of an apartment, we would like to stress the importance of cat-proofing your house, if you have a cat at home or if you are planning to adopt a cat.
As cats are curious animals, with an acute sense of smell, they have the tendency to investigate and, as a result, may get themselves into dangerous situations.
For the safety of your cat, please ensure that windows in your house have cat-proof screens that stay firmly in ...

Don’t Support Exploitation By Visiting Asian Animal Cafes 17th Oct 2016, by SPCA Singapore
KEEP WILD ANIMALS WILD
We responded to TODAY's article "A bit wild: Asian animal cafes go from mere cats to meerkats" regarding the opening of animal cafes round Asia (http://www.todayonline.com/lifestyle/travel/bit-w ild-asian-animal-cafes-go-mere-cats-meerkats).
We urge anyone planning on visiting such cafes to consider the costs to the animals and refrain from supporting this blatant form of animal exploitation which takes place at the animals’ expense, and help keep wild animals wild....

ZEPHY GETS A NEW LEASE OF LIFE 15th Oct 2016, by SPCA Singapore
ZEPHY GETS A NEW LEASE OF LIFE
In early August, SPCA was informed by a concerned member of the public that a cat had been injured in a fall at Marsiling Road.
Our rescue officer soon brought the injured kitty back to SPCA. As she was wearing a brown collar with a gold bell, we tried our best to trace her owner by advertising in the press, and on our lost and found website. Unfortunately, no one came forward.
SPCA's consultant veterinarian, Dr Tanja, has since carried out surgery on Zephy’...

DOGS GET THEMSELVES INTO TRICKY PREDICAMENTS TOO.
Just last week, we highlighted a case whereby a four month young kitten was rescued from a 12 storey ledge.
On Sunday, 9 October, a concerned member of the public alerted us to a case of a dog on a ledge, on the third floor of a HDB block.
The dog appeared to have pushed aside the temporary barricade that the owner placed on her service yard and could not get back in thereafter.
Our rescue officer, Daniel, rushed to the scene to rescue the do...
