The SPCA applauds this move by the AVA to raise the standards in the pet industry. The Code of Animal Welfare http://www.ava.gov.sg/docs/default-source/press-re leases/press-release_issuance-of-code-of-animal-we lfare-(for-the-pet-industry)-final.pdf is a step in the right direction.

OUR LONGEST STAYING RESIDENT; DINO HAS BEEN ADOPTED AFTER SPENDING FIVE YEARS AT SPCA
Remember Dino, our longest staying resident after Ida was adopted in February 2016?
We took in Dino off the streets in 2009 when he was a young puppy. He was adopted shortly after but, disappointingly, returned to us in 2011 when his owners left the country for good and did not take him along. [Remember, a pet is for life.]

Rabbit bag chains (as pictured) have been gaining popularity in Singapore. Some members of public have expressed their concern to us that these products are made of real rabbit fur.
We investigated and found that the products are sold in numerous shops and that some sellers claim that the fur is real while others have said that its not.

The gestation period for hamsters is between 16 and 23 days and they have large litters; around four to seven babies at a time.
