Despite our home’s petite size, we are neighbours with an impressive wealth of wildlife! You won...

Pet Grooming School Owner Gets 6 Weeks' Jail For Abandoning 18 Dogs 24th Sep 2016, by SPCA Singapore
A SMALL WIN FOR THE ANIMALS
This is the first time that someone has been prosecuted for abandoning animals in Singapore. Although the sentence should have been harsher, this is historic because the SPCA has seen countless cases of pet abandonment over the years but due to various reasons, these cases do not end up in court.
Let this be a lesson for anyone thinking of dumping their pets on the street. Abandonment is a crime.
We are also happy to report that all the dogs we took in from this ...

CHIPPY AND YOKO - JOURNEY BACK TO THE WILD
Meet Chippy and Yoko, both wild long-tailed macaques recently rescued. Both had to be unfortunately removed from the wild due to public feeding which has altered their wild behaviours and resulted in complaints from the public.
ACRES has been working hard over the past month to rehabilitate them and they have both been responding well :-) No more human food for them and they are loving and eating lots of food they can find in the wild. They have bec...

In conjunction with #WorldRiversDay this 25th September 2016, let’s take action to save our rivers and to use water wisely and efficiently. Together, through collective efforts, we can make a difference. Simple steps that we can do are:
Monitor our water use at home by checking our water meter and bills. Be water conscious and educate family members on the value of water and ways to reduce wastage.
Install water saving devices at home to reduce water consumption such as low-flow showerheads...

WHY ARE WE BUYING 1,500 CABBAGES?
This month we bought 1,500 cabbages and paid for trucks to bring in a massive amount of hay to feed wildlife along the Turgwe River in Zimbabwe where a regional drought, worsened by the El Nino weather phenomenon, has depleted water supplies and killed vast areas of vegetation. The UN has warned of the bleak outlook in this region and the catastrophic impact on all forms of life.
"I will not give in and somehow will do it," said a nervous Karen Paolillo who r...

UPDATES ON THE MALAMUTE AT SERANGOON NORTH AVENUE 4
We received multiple alerts about a dog allegedly left unattended in a shop at Serangoon North Avenue 4 and we thank everyone for your concern.
We managed to contact the owner of the Malamute and we were assured that the dog is being looked after, even though the main caregiver has been hospitalised. A member of the family has been caring for the dog, in the absence of the main caregiver.
We visited the Malamute this evening, to check on his...

NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE ROUND UP – 23 SEP 2016
We were alerted to the cases of snake sightings (shown in the photos), and to our shock both were dead on arrival. Similarly the cobra (on the right) from another case at a different location was also dead on arrival. Even though we did not rule out the possibility of grass cutting machinery injuring the snakes, we often come across such situations where the snakes are dead either through trauma or other methods like hot water. Unfortunately, the ...
