All dogs, big and small, need regular exercise, even if they have a large compound to play in. Daily walks are great for your dog’s physical and mental well being. Having a restless dog cooped up in a small space all day long could also result in behavioural problems like excessive barking.
Over here at the SPCA shelter, our team of dog walkers can be seen just about every morning (except for Sundays) each with a shelter dog in tow, taking the dogs on their regular walks in the vicinity of t...

The global rise in temperature is causing our polar ice caps to melt, glaciers that weaken and break off cause water levels to rise as soon as the ice falls into the ocean. Thermal expansion also occurs when water particles expand as it gets warmer.
Forests play a vital role in the fight against climate change. You can help us at http://goo.gl/m0fB5U

A THANK YOU WITH A DIFFERENCE!
A lot of the time, we do not have the chance to meet the people who are thanking us. But the nice officers from the MSF (Ministry of Social & Family Development) decided to change things - with a cool twist! This is the special thank you card they sent us (to acknowledge the fact that ACRES welcomes youths doing their Community Service Order to volunteer with us), which literally melted every one of us in ACRES! To the Officers at MSF, you’re very welcome, and T...

Anna 15th Feb 2015, by Second Chance
Anna (in cage) has not been spayed yet as she has just been rescued off the streets last week. She is on heat now, hence so many male dogs are surrounding her.
Note though that all male dogs at our shelter are castrated (except the very old ones) in line with our policy - Spay and Don't Multiply

Happy Face Or Angry Face? A Dog Can Tell The Difference.
Word to the wise: Don’t play poker with your dog. He can read your face like a book. A new study shows that man’s best friend is remarkably good at discerning happy expressions from angry ones – even when he’s only looking at half of a person’s face.
The authors say the findings, published in the journal Current Biology, are the first to provide solid evidence that an animal can read the expressions of a totally different speci...

We thank the Sunday Times for printing our stand, on this practice, as follows:
"The SPCA does not subscribe to the idea of farm animals - like live goats - being transported in the heat, and brought to crowded or noisy places for the purpose of display and clos...

THANK YOU, PARVARNE!
Parvarne volunteered at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre for 2 months, from December 2014 to January 2015. She is a cheerful individual whose enthusiasm to help is contagious! Parvarne helped us tremendously in not only providing essential everyday care to the animals, but also assisted with providing veterinary care. We wish Parvarne all the best in her studies, and we look forward to seeing her again!
