This Giraffe cloth is contributed by Ms Ooi.
Pretty giraffes all in a row!
It’s another huge piece of cloth, enough for 4 blankets! That’s just one piece up there.
Since it has big motifs, not much cutting is required.
I added two borders on the sides.
The borders are made up of small patchwork pieces.
This blanket measures 63 in by 74 in.

Here’s another blanket for fundraising.
My mum had this Dora the Explorer cloth from way back and my friend, Audrey, contributed quite a bit of cloth with interesting “archaeological” designs. The two really fit together well!
My mum sewed these square pieces.
And I arranged them like so…
Sewed them together and added some borders.
Here’s the finished blanket!

We are managing a flurry of rescues tonight. A cold front bringing -20 temperatures is headed for Romania,Bulgaria and Bosnia. This dog saved from the street in Sarajevo tonight is just one of the lucky ones who will not freeze to death tomorrow night.

We are managing a flurry of dangerous situations tonight. A cold front bringing -20 temperatures is headed for Romania,Bulgaria and Bosnia. In fact, one of the shelters in Bosnia suffered a fire last week. Although all the dogs are unharmed, the shelter caretaker's home has been badly damaged. I met a friend while buying vegetables today and she was lamenting about the #BebasPlastik campaign. She said she usually buys many items on her shopping trips and now, she would have to carry many shopping bags with her, which is an inconvenience.

Pooh Bear 2 – Another Blanket

The Pooh Bear blanket I sewed yesterday turned out to be quite a favourite. We have orders for another two now (and that’s all we can make as there was enough cloth for 3 pieces).
Here’s Pooh Bear 2:
It measures 57 in by 74 in.
The right side shows the pieces of remnant cloth we have, but it wasn’t enough, so I added pieces of a dark blue chequered cloth (see left side).
Now, I’m off to sew the third piece of Pooh Bear!

I’ve been reading up on cat nutrition and trying to make my home-cooked food as balanced as possible.
Cats are obligate carnivores and they need to eat meat, but they also need organs as well as bones (for calcium). I’ve heard horror stories of cats being fed only on muscle meat alone and they end up with brittle bones. In fact, the vet told me that one such cat fell down and broke her bones quite badly – she was fed only chicken breast meat and nothing else.
