Found, fostered, adopted: CINDER & ASH
Cinder and Ash, a pair of female, local, tortoiseshell-coloured siblings, were brought to our shelter, on 17 June 2015, shortly after being found (possibly abandoned, with some food and a bag), at Tampines Street 33. Both were merely about a month old then, and a little too young to be placed for adoption.
A kind fosterer, Ms Tammie Caldwell, unhesitatingly offered to help care for both siblings during their initial months. She gave the kittens a warm an...

Dog Saves Suicidal Man 20th Oct 2015, by PetFinder.my
Dog Saves Suicidal Man
A suicidal man says his life was saved by his pet mastiff that grabbed his noose and chewed it up.
Byron Taylor says he would not be alive today if it was not for Geo, his six-year-old Rare Welsh Bull Mastiff. The 23-year-old had been at his lowest point and tried to end his life, only for a usually passive Geo to wrestle the noose from him and refuse to give it back.
Now, Mr Taylor is facing life without his faithful pet, who has been diagnosed with an aggressive tumo...

How BIG Is “little” Thong-Mang Now? 20th Oct 2015, by AnimalCare
It was in June this year that Thong-mang was rescued. She was SO incredibly small that her rescuer thought she was a teacup puppy.
http://myanimalcare.org/2015/06/02/thong-ma ng-abandoned-teacup-puppy-for-adoption-dr-veeranoo t-nissapatorns/
As it turned out, Thong-mang was a puppy from a malnourished mother and this accounts for why she was exceptionally small.
Thong-mang was adopted and shortly after that, she came down with parvo virus and this happened before she could be vaccinated. D...

THE LOSS OF A HIGHER RANKING FEMALE MACAQUE 19th Oct 2015, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
THE LOSS OF A HIGHER RANKING FEMALE MACAQUE
Macaques live in troops with a female-bonded social structure. Females do not leave their natal group, whereas males leave as they mature. Troops usually have an alpha male, but social bonds between females exceed those between males. Hierarchal rankings are important to the social structure of macaques. Macaques are nepotistic, meaning daughters inherit the rank of their mother.
Marissa was a higher ranked female macaque from the Lornie Troop. Sadl...

Neutering: Passed The 1000 Mark! 19th Oct 2015, by AnimalCare
For this year, we have sponsored 1009 neutering procedures since January and it’s only mid-October now.
This is certainly a new “record” since we started in 2009.
It’s really good and encouraging as it shows that more and more animals are being neutered.
Neutering is one of the most positive methods to address issues related to the stray community, be it over-population or the spread of diseases like rabies.
So, to all caregivers, please carry on your good work...
