Updates On 5th Jul 2014 5th Jul 2014, by SPCA Singapore
Look who our Rescue Officer brought back, to one void deck along Petir Road!
Just last night (July 4), we brought a grey tabby back to where we rescued it from. The cat had a deformed left paw which our vets at SPCA examined and treated to some extent.
On hand to extend a welcome meow to it was its very companion from the same block, a ginger feline. We didn't manage to get Polaroid shots of the ginger's excitement at seeing its grey pal at first, but got a few pics of their mingling shortly...

Lifelines: Heartwarming Bond Of Homeless Humans & Pets 5th Jul 2014, by PetFinder.my
Norah Levine is a pet photographer, so, not all too surprisingly, she has a soft spot for that special bond between a person and his or her furry companion.
But Levine's series "Lifelines" adds a poignant twist to the internet's omnipresent trend of cuddly pet photos. The works capture the often witnessed, but not adequately explored relationship between humans and pets when neither have a shelter to call their own.
Levine, who lives in Austin, Texas, embarked on the series after discovering a...

An 84-Year Old Philanthropist Who Earns RM20-RM30 A Day….all For Charity 5th Jul 2014, by AnimalCare
This may have nothing to do with animal caregiving, but it’s relevant to what we promote – Being contented with enough for oneself and selfless giving for the benefit of others.
Source: http://www.theheat.my/Article.asp x?ArticleId=3965
Yang Yu Lan diligently stitches bits of cloth, which she collects from neighbours, into floor mats. The 84-year-old grandmother’s sewing machine has broken down, so she hand-sews these mats, which she sells or trades for essential items like shamp...

Pursuing Happiness When It’s Already Within You (from Zen Habits) 5th Jul 2014, by AnimalCare
I think this article below is very relevant to animal caregiving.
Source: http://zenhabits.net/pursuing-happiness/
There is no copyright, so I will paste the entire article below for you to read.
But just to share, the other day at Pet World, I met someone from a local shelter and she says that if only every household in Malaysia were to adopt ONE (one and only one) stray animal, it might just bring the number of strays on the streets down to ZERO.
Wow! I never knew those were the statistics!
I...

Updates On 4th Jul 2014 4th Jul 2014, by SPCA Seberang Perai
SPCA SEBERANG PERAI has recently been receiving complaints that we have been charging unreasonably high adoption fees of between RM150 to RM200 for adopting from us.
We would like to take the opportunity to clarify that we do not imposed such a regulation. Our policy has always been to allow adopters contribute any amount, depending on their own freewill and ability; just so long that they can take good care of their new pets.
Those that have lodge the complaints to us may have mistaken us for...

Of Visions And Hope For Timmy 4th Jul 2014, by AnimalCare
I wish to thank everyone who has offered comforting words ever since Timmy disappeared last week and I thought I owe it to all of you to share that one of the psychics just informed me that this is what he knows: Timmy is living with a bunch of cats and he is very pampered and loved and that is why there is no need for him to come back here right away. The psychic still feels that Timmy will come back one day.
I’ll interpret the above as Timmy being well and happy, and yes, living with ...

Spaying Subsidy For Mimi & Skitty, Female Cats (Lyzz Sew Shew Lai’s) 4th Jul 2014, by AnimalCare
We have subsidised RM200 for the spaying of Mimi & Skitty.
Mimi’s 1st and 2nd vaccinations were also subsidised by us: http://myanimalcare.org/2014/06/23/vaccinatio n-sponsorship-for-may-the-dog-and-mimi-the-cat-lyz z-sew-shew-lais/. With this spaying, it completes our package of basic medical care for a rescued animal (neutering + vaccination and booster, if needed). It is noted that adult cats in a relatively hygienic environment do quite well with just one vaccination.
