Remember The Black Cat Bag? Here’s Version 2.0! 1st Mar 2015, by AnimalCare
Remember how crazy the auction went? It was one of the most memorable auctions we ever held.
http://myanimalcare.org/2014/06/22/cat-at-th e-window-bag-no-14-goes-to/
Yellow Bird started the bidding at RM188, then after a few more bids, Ah Yap and PC Leong went on a most exciting rally until Ah Yap finally won it at a ridiculously incredible bid of RM1200!
Then, PC Leong contributed his bid of RM999 as well, making it a total combined donation of RM2199!!
Then, more surprises were in store of us....

Cat Pillow Mania!!! 1st Mar 2015, by AnimalCare
For all those who ordered cat pillows, we thank you and wish to inform you that all your orders are ready to be either collected or shipped out. Please contact me for shipping arrangement if you haven’t done so.
And, we are still taking in orders!
Meanwhile, whenever I pack cat pillows, I cannot (ever!) run away from refreshing our cats’ pillows. If I don’t, I won’t be able to distract them anywhere to pack the orders!!
So I refreshed two pillows for them to play with.

A LIFE SAVED: THANK YOU, JASPER!
With the festive season almost coming to an end, we want to share a happy story about a donor who cared for our wildlife: Jasper!
Our rescue team got a call from Jasper, whose dog alerted him to a paradise tree snake that had ended up on his balcony. His neighbour saw the snake and wanted to kill it, thinking it was dangerous. But, thankfully, Jasper knew better, and called the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Hotline, and the rescue team was soon on the way to rescue the...

Ginger Stepped In Boldly Where No Cat Dares To Go And…. 1st Mar 2015, by AnimalCare
This morning, when I opened the grille to Bunny’s Place, Ginger stepped in boldly and nonchalantly as though it’s the most natural thing to do.
If you remember, a few days ago, he was given a free-and-easy tour of Bunny’s Place when the titans were in a “food-coma” (sleeping after lunch).
So, Ginger innocently thought he already has a ticket into Bunny’s Place anytime he likes.
But Indy was awake and sitting by the door leading to the pantry.
I quickly grabbed...

KEEP THEM WILD AND FREE: SLOW LORIS
Here begins a series on the illegal exotic pet trade in Singapore. Tune in every Saturday for features on the beautiful wild animals that we are - with your help – working hard to keep wild and free, and not kept as pets.
In today’s segment, we feature the lovely, wide-eyed, highly endangered slow loris.
Illegal poaching for the exotic pet trade is driving the slow loris to extinction. As they may inflict a toxic bite, slow lorises often have their sha...

Goodbye, Mr Leonard Nimoy 28th Feb 2015, by AnimalCare
May you be in a peaceful place, Mr Leonard Nimoy.
“Live long and prosper” – Leonard Nimoy. He certainly did, as a vegetarian too.

Write-up and photo courtesy of KindMeal.my:
Leonard Nimoy, 1931 – 2015
We say farewell to the man we all knew as Star Trek’s stoic and faultlessly logical Mr. Spock; Leonard Nimoy was also a gifted poet, musician and photographer. He died on Friday, 27 February.
Leonard Nimoy was a vegetarian;...

Protecting The Dianthuses…who From? 28th Feb 2015, by AnimalCare
We don’t know, but it’s very likely Daffodil’s the one who has been “disturbing” the dianthuses and we think it’s because she likes the flowers.
Try as I did, I did not manage to save the two plants, so I procured two replacement plants today.
These would be the two at the top left corner.
And we used these metal frames (from the cage) to protect the plants. Hopefully, it will deter Daffodil (or whoever is responsible) from destroying the plants.
Only Daffod...

Eat Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants. 28th Feb 2015, by AnimalCare
“Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. – Michael Pollan” is the best 7-word nutritional advice one can give any human.
An excerpt:
That, more or less, is the short answer to the supposedly incredibly complicated and confusing question of what we humans should eat in order to be maximally healthy.
The whole essay: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/28/magazine /28nutritionism.t.html?pagewanted=all
