The All-New Zurik Incursion 26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
It is almost midnight now.
In the still of the night, I heard the sound of cat aggression in the porch.
I quickly grabbed the key and opened the door.
I see Mr Zurik taking off from the porch towards the gate.
You again!!
Vincent is by my side and quickly takes up a defensive position on the shoe bench. Rosie and Daffodil are both atop the car, safe and sound. But they look worried too.
Within seconds when the Russian had scuttled away, Heidi creeps up from nowhere. I think from under the car, m...

Feeding Time! 26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
This morning, I was up later than usual and by the time I came downstairs, my son said he had fed everyone!
He took this photo:
He said poor Vincent segregated himself from the rest.
Well, yes, Vincent has some issues, you know. I wonder if it is a colour issue, though.
I did the dinner round, which was at 4.30pm, and Vincent ate separately again.
Again, Vincent preferred to eat separately from the rest. Well, as long as he is happy, I’m okay with that. We sometimes want our personal sp...

One look at this haggard old dog and you might thought he is some homeless stray without a home and has been loitering on the streets for quite a while...but sadly, he DOES has a owner.
He used to be someone's dog for the last 15 years until he gotten too old for everyone, and suddenly no one seems to be able to have time to take care of an aging old senior dog. Kids had gone to work in KL and mother is too old to care for the dog. Last solution? To have him surrender to the shelter...(at le...

The Practice Of “releasing Animals” 26th Jul 2013, by AnimalCare
After writing that post on Dr Veeranoot’s Temple Dog No.2 and reflecting on why people tend to dump animals at places of worship, it suddenly dawned on me that perhaps some people think they are performing “fong sang” (in Chinese) which literally translates to “releasing lives”. This is an age-old practice in the Chinese culture where during auspicious occasions like birthdays, religious festivals or even commemoration of death anniversaries, devotees would release ...

We received a call today from a concerned member of the public about a rabbit, allegedly abandoned at Block 632A, Senja Road. Our Animal Rescue Officer (ARO) arrived on the scene to find a rabbit abandoned in a cage by the block's refuse bin centre. The white and brown rabbit seemed to have an injured hind leg/foot. Our ARO brought the rabbit back to our shelter.
We are appealing for any information that may lead to the identification of the person responsible for this. If you have any relev...

There was a bit of confusion here as Siti Khadijah is Marina Bakar’s (who also applied at the same time) aunt and Marina created the email account for her aunt, hence, it is in her name as well. But the confusion has been cleared with several phonecalls. We have explained to Khadijah th...
