Updates On 12th Oct 2012 12th Oct 2012, by SPCA Selangor
With regards to the recent MPAJ dog-catching case - SPCA Selangor has been lobbying the local councils and DVS for a very long time regarding humane stray management. It is unrealistic for them to completely stop catching dogs, but we gave them guidelines (and practical demonstrations) on the humane methods to catch, transport dog and manage the pound. We have been providing food for several pounds on a regular basis, while waiting for them to get a 'budget' for dog food. We also have helped wit...

Further Updates On The Puppy With The Inverted Rear Paws (Kelly Tan’s) 12th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref : http://myanimalcare.org/2012/10/11/some-updates -on-kellys-inverted-paws-puppy/
This post is entirely written in my layperson’s understanding of what I have found out. Any error is deeply regretted and there is absolutely no intention to undermine anyone’s offer to help.
Kelly’s vet has explained that there is an over-extension of the knee on both legs, thus causing the legs to bend in a direction it is not supposed to. The surgery that he plans to do would be to break t...

Take Action Now To Save The Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre! 12th Oct 2012, by SPCA Singapore
Today we received news that the Animals Asia Foundation (AAF) bear rescue centre in Vietnam is being evicted. We first featured the dedicated work of Jill Robinson (MBE) and her team in our SPCA Bulletin Jan-Feb 2002. Their first rescue centre was set up in Chengdu, China. The latest eviction notice from the authorities in Vietnam will have serious consequences for the 104 rescued bears, all victims of the torturous bear bile trade. Please show your support by helping support AAF's appeal to the...

A Fully Recovered Max! 12th Oct 2012, by Noah's Ark CARES
When Max’s story was first published, (http://noahsarkcares.blogspot.sg/2012/08/a-painfu l-rear.html), we believe it shocked
many to see the extent of his injury. We do apologize if the graphic photos
have caused distress, but we always believed that the photos will speak for
themselves and show the actual circumstances and suffering of the animals.
Max has come a long way, from being an independent and
“untouchable” stray, to slowly learn to trust humans and even beg us with...

Greetings From Outside! 12th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
This morning, after feeding the inside clan, I opened my front door, and found some friends waiting…
Rosie and Bosco were outside the gate while Raven was inside.
I was so relieved to see Raven as she went missing last night during and after the heavy rain. Maybe she went home?
Today’s menu is home-cooked food and kibbles.
Bosco and Rosie made a dive for the food and before I could even take a photo, Rosie had finished her share.
Imagine that, my inside clan is fed-up of my coo...

Updates On 12th Oct 2012 12th Oct 2012, by The Great Animal Rescue Chase
"I had just pulled out of the grocery store parking lot when I noticed two small dogs standing by the side of the road. One of them was a little tan mixed breed wearing a black collar; the other a matted little grey Shih-Tzu. At first, I thought they belonged to a man walking down the street, but he simply ignored them both and walked on by.
Suddenly, these two small dogs decided to cross the road in heavy traffic. I jumped out of my truck and I called out to them. The little brown dog t...

Updates On 12th Oct 2012 12th Oct 2012, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
A warm welcome to "Neung" (means "number one" in Lao), our first rescued Malayan sun bear at the ACRES Lao Wildlife Sanctuary! We are saddened that Neung was poached from the wild for the illegal wildlife trade but happy that we are providing sanctuary for this little cub.
We have started construction of our Education Centre at the sanctuary and hope that through our awareness efforts, bears will no longer be poached from the wild and that we can wipe out this cruel trade.

MDDB’s Press Conference On Dog-Catching And Illegal Trespassing 12th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Wani of MDDB has requested this post:
Dear KY,
As we know dog catching activities are becoming rampant these days with even pets confined within the house compound not being safe anymore. The perpetrators are private dog catching companies that have been commissioned by the local councils and the bounty can be anywhere between RM35 to RM55 per dog caught. We were also told that one local council has even offered a dog catching tender that comes with a bounty of RM100 for every dog caught. The la...

500 PEOPLE POWER 11th Oct 2012, by SPCA Seberang Perai
{From the wall of Save Our Strays (SOS) Penang}
We received so many calls everyday asking for help to remove strays from the streets mainly because neighborhood people are complaining and council are coming for them. This is why we call for an immediate 500 PEOPLE POWER CONFERENCE, to have council put a halt to killing and work with us on TNR.
Bear in mind, we are not doing this for ourselves...it's for the stray animals out there straying on the lonely road alone, rain or shine as well as the...

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/10/11/of-puppie s-with-inverted-rear-paws-and-its-possible-causes/
As per the post above, I have made enquiries from one vet over here and was told the surgery requiring the insertion of metal plates would cost as much as what was quoted by Kelly’s vet.
A friend from Ipoh is also helping to obtain more information from the vet (because Kelly is unable to comprehend the technical details) and has met up with the vet this afternoon. The vet said the cause ...

News From The Inside Clan 11th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
While outside everything seems to be quite peaceful…it has not been so inside.
The bosses, Bunny and Cow, get all worked up when they hear me outside with the outside clan. Sigh…maybe as my husband says, to be fair, I have to feed the outside clan outside the gate. The trouble with Bosco is that he keeps coming INTO the house and lounging everywhere, including our sofa. So, who can blame the inside clan for getting upset, right? After all, first and foremost, isn’t this their h...

News From The Outside Clan 11th Oct 2012, by AnimalCare
Ginger has stopped hissing at Raven.
Bosco is his usual happy-g0-lucky self.
Peace on earth and goodwill to catkind?
Yes, you may, but not all of it.
The outside gang doesn’t like Hill’s anymore. They like SmartHeart. Oh well, which child does not like yummy food? Compare Koko Krunch to Oatmeal…
Nothing like a good sunbath!
Poor girl…it must be very itchy.
Use the wall for a good scratch.
After a good scratch, go poo….
Reasonably well-formed, ...
