Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/27/help-need ed-for-two-cruelty-cases-teresa-chians/
Teresa called this afternoon to say she has already rehomed Case 2, and Case 1 has been taken from the owner, and is now under treatment at the vet’s.
We’ve already got PAWS on standby to take in Case 1 should Teresa fail to find an adopter, and we have pledged our medical subsidy for the dog.
Case 1 has bad wounds and the wounds has maggots too.
We hope the dog will recover well, with treatmen...

Baloo Bluey Is Not Well (Andy Lew’s) 27th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Two days ago, Andy Lew called to say Baloo did not look well and he had already scheduled an appointment for her.
Yesterday morning, he brought Baloo to see the vet and the vet did not quite find anything wrong. Maybe it was just a cold. So Baloo was given antibiotics (Clavomox) and Vetri DMG.
Just now, Andy called to say Baloo had not eaten today but is still alert.
I’ve given Andy the phone contact of the vet in PJ with the call-back service, just in case. I’ve also suggested that ...

And There’s Silvervine Powder As Well…. 27th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Bernice bought my cats a treat…
A Daiso product
It comes in sachets.
Tabs went absolutely crazy over it!
Indy wanted to know what the commotion was all about.
Sniff, Cleo.
Cleo, our very own Bastet Queen, also “let her hair down” and went completely gaga. You’d never catch her going gaga over anything, not even the P-Lows.
Bunny?
I sprinkled some on the cushion, and it was non-stop!
Everyone went crazy over it and we had like hal...

Dogs Can Detect Cancer With High Accuracy Levels 27th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
A friend sent me this link:
http://www.yourhealth.com.sg/content/dog-can -detect-cancer-high-accuracy-levels
He suggested that we work with dog trainers to train street dogs to do this, then, to put it bluntly, there would be some “use” for these dogs, and the shelters might not have to have them euthanised.
Of course it is a good idea, but do we have such experts in our country?
If you know of any, it would be good to share.
Maybe we can propose it to the shelters.

Mr G’s Owner Comes A-Knocking…. 27th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
My doorbell rang just now and a Malay lady was at my gate. She was looking for her cat, “Ten” and wonders if Ten had come into my house. She said she lives behind my house.
Well, what do you know, she is Mr G’s owner!
And here’s Mr G’s real name – “Jelly”, and guess how old he is….
Mr G a.k.a. Jelly is only 5 years old!!
This means Cow, Bunny, Pole and Tiger are older! Maybe Cleo is also older.
“Ten” is Ginrella. He had gone missi...

“Sweetheart, Is This What You Would Have Wanted?” – A Reflection On Euthanasia 27th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/26/can-we-ne uter-our-way-out-of-killing/
Remember yesterday’s article which I posted (link above) about rehoming being more important than neutering and urging shelters to be no-kill ones?
I sent the article to two shelter managers and I did not receive a straight-off “No” from them. Rather, one replied saying their shelter is working towards no-kill. The other said theirs would reflect on the contents of the article.
When it comes to the ...

Kucing is actually fit to be taken back to be fostered, but Kamaruzaman says he is not able to do it. Therefore, Dr Dev is asking for a kind fosterer to take Kucing back for fostering. The fostering period is 2 weeks (please see below) and the fosterer is preferably located near Dr Dev’s clinic:
From Dr Dev:
Hi Dr Chan,
Thanks for your help. The fostering period is 2 weeks. The cat may need some help to eliminate faeces. Just to reiterate, I would like a fosterer staying within reasonable ...

Indy’s Acupuncture Today 27th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Indy had his acupuncture treatment today…
After the needles went in, he was put in the carrier, as usual.
He complained and tried to open the lock.
I think he was already feeling better compared to the last two days when all he did was to sleep. Well, sleep is very healing; that’s when the body heals itself as much as it can.
Time’s up. The needles can come off now.
Dr Susanna said Indy has a weak-qi and weak-blood problem, in Chinese medical terms. It is not anaemia, th...

Medical Subsidy For Caty (Koo Swee Por’s) 26th Apr 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/25/catys-sur gery-today-koo-swee-pors/
I dropped in to enquire about Caty today and was informed that she is physically doing well, but having a big problem with the e-collar. Her eye enucleation needed external sutures, hence, the e-collar is of great importance. But Caty is still adjusting to and resisting the collar and has not learnt to eat with it. So, the vet is still handfeeding her.
The vet would prefer to keep her one more night to ensure that all i...
