Medical Subsidy For Curly, Dog With Cancer (Meiji’s) 12th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/10/subsidy-f or-meijis-dogs-medical-treatment/
I met Meiji today when she came to collect our food subsidy of 10 packs of food for her dogs, and Meiji told me all about Curly, one of her many dogs.
Meiji also handed me a receipt of RM 285 for Curly’s latest treatment and notes from the vet. According to what I understand from the notes, Curly has mastcell cancer. Her front leg had been amputated (we subsidised the cost) and now she is on chemotherapy d...

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/11/up dates-on-brainy-from-the-anonymous-fosterer/
My apologies to everyone for the delay in this news as I had a very, very long day today. Some of you have written in to enquire – thank you so much for your concern, prayers and offers of help. My friend says there is no need for any subsidy as yet.
This afternoon, my friend brought Brainy to see our vet. The vet shaved the part around the puncture wound and gave some antiseptic cream. Brainy i...

He (a boy with his grandma) said that he saw the cat about 20 minutes ago. When Connie went back to the area, Ofie is still not coming out when called. He might be too scared. Tomorrow, Connie will distribute more flyers and walk around the area where he was sig...

We are all fully ARMED.. with phones, and we CAN make a difference by pressuring the authorities to act, and exposing these culprits to ultimate shame.
SPCA Selangor's latest updates indicated that the animal abuser SS17 Wantan Mee seller Mr.Wai has been picked up by DVS for further investigation. Let this be a warning to all would-...

Hi all, latest update from our Inspectorate regarding the Section17 case:
"We went to the restaurant this morning but the wanton mee seller (Mr Wai) was not in. Talked to the owner of Lucky restaurant and apparently 2 government officials came yesterday (the owner said they wore uniforms) and told the Mr Wai that he has to go to their office in Shah Alam today otherwise he will be locked up in the police station (we assume they are from DVS!). We've got another contact of somebody who's taking ...

When Cleo Got Lost…in 2009 12th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare

Ref: http://myanimalcare .org/2009/10/19/we-found-cleo/
On 19th October 2009, I did one of the stupidest things ever – I brought Cleo to the vet without using a carrier thinking I could carry her into the clinic. Also, Cleo hated being in the carrier and fought when I tried to put her in. So, I thought I’d just carry her instead of stressing her out.
My cats seldom went to the clinic, and being home-pets, I ...

A Man Reunited With His Dog…after 7 Years 12th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
My cousin forwarded this story to me, and it is quite apt as we are now looking for Ofie. It may help, too, that my friend, Mary, lost her childhood cat, Vicky, and after one year, a neighbour spotted Vicky at the marketplace and alerted Mary. Mary went there, and it WAS Vicky! Vicky was brought home and lived on till a ripe old age.
Enjoy this story, and please, let’s help make a dream come true for Ofie and Connie’s children.
While attending the Lantern Festival, a young Beijing m...

Home-Cooking Again; Deboning This Time. 12th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
I joined Andi Brown’s FB exchange on homecooking for pets (actually it’s for dog recipes) and learnt that we should not give cooked bones, even if it is ground. The reason is that even finely ground bones would have sharp fragments and also cooked bones has no more nutritional value.
So, this evening, I steamed chicken breast, liver, chicken ribs and after it had cooled, I deboned the ribs.
Apparently, I just learnt that by cooking the bones together with the meat, the calcium would ...

A Pregnant Cat And A Little Tail-Less Lizard 11th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
This evening, my husband wanted to go out for dinner, so we drove to one of the coffee shops nearby. As I alighted from the car, a pregnant cat came mewing towards me. She walked up to my feet and let me pat her.
In my heart of hearts, I wish I could take her home and give her a safe place to deliver her babies. But then, what would happen after that? Each time we take an animal home, we must always be prepared to adopt the animal, and in this case, she and her babies, should we fail to find the...

Ref: http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/11/very-urge nt-kitten-milk-needed-injured-kitten-needs-nursing -care/
We wish to thank everyone who has prayed hard for Brainy ever since this morning.
At this moment, Brainy is still hanging on, and fighting for his life. My friend (the anonymous fosterer) has been giving milk and glucose water every 2 hours and keeping Brainy as warm as possible. Brainy responds when he is touched at the spinal area. Otherwise, he is quiet.
My friend wrote to me:
Just whe...
