Adding Raw Meat And Bones To The Cooked Food 17th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
For the last two batches of food, I have been adding raw meat to the cooked food to be blended together.
The first round, I only added raw meat. For the second round (which was done last night), I added raw meat, skin and three pieces of chicken neck so that they get the raw bones and bone marrow. There is something very nutritious in the bone marrow, but it is destroyed if cooked. So, bones must be fed raw. I blended a 500ml of raw stuff together with the cooked food, and in the cooked food, I ...

To Let: Bunny’s Apartments 17th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
It’s strange how Bunny started almost instantly to act like a “big boss” when we moved in here. Could it be due to the fact that he knew I called this cat-space “Bunny’s Place”?
Maybe he received the vibes. Cats’ sixth sense is just so super strong and sensitive.
Welcome to my apartments.
This is the parking lot (ground).
Bunny’s favourite is Apartment 2a.
Now Pole’s at 1b. But she is nomadic, having lived in “many places”...

Cindy’s Selection, A Local Cat-Litter 17th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
My friend, Mr Teh, gave me a bag of his house-brand cat-litter to try. Yes, it’s a local product, and it’s called Cindy’s Selection.
Cindy is Mr Teh’s very own cat.
I guess this must be Cindy (picture on the bag)?
Me pretty, or Cindy pretty?
Tabs immediately jumped in to use it.
But she was particularly interested in the picture of the cat. Cindy?
See?
I let her be….for just a few minutes and the next thing I knew….
Oh gosh…she had bitten the plastic bag and…..
Tabs!!!!

Food Talk, Mr G And Crushed Eggshells 17th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
My “re-conversion project” was finally successful today!
“Successful” in that I got all of them to eat homecooked without having to bribe them with a bit Natural Balance or even mix it with canned food.
This evening, for dinner, everybody willingly and quite happily ate homecooked. No resistance, no hesitation, no looking at me with those “you expect me to eat this muck?” face.
Only six?
Nope, Indy is behind Tiger.
Look…Pole heard a noise…guess ...

Pak Din’s Cat, Kit, Up For Adoption (Chew’s) 17th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
From Chew (016-3281210):
Dear Ky,
Helped take Pak Din’s cat named KIT (for kitten) to the vet yesterday. He’s got a very nasty wound on the hind leg, not sure if something attacked him or his leg got caught in some wires or sharp obstacles and he tried to pull away. The vet says it may take several weeks if not months to heal properly…may need sutures later to seal up the open wound. Its remarkable the pain tolerance in animals as if it were a human, he’ll be whining and ...

A Bed Of Thorns, Part 9 17th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Today, the Kawan and Hoarder brought the remaining 6 dogs for vaccination at the vet’s. With this, all 12 dogs have been vaccinated now, and we have banked in the money to the vet directly. The vet is also treating the dogs for their skin problem and they have been advised to bring the dogs in for weekly injections. This is done at the vet’s own expense.
Apparently, today, the Hoarder had loaded the “wrong” dogs into the car (those that have just been vaccinated (from the...

Full Sponsorship For Sunny’s Medical Treatment (Maslinda’s) 17th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
We have fully sponsored RM74 for Sunny’s medical treatment. Super (the mum-cat), Sunny, Maxie and Jamie are the Shah Alam cat-family (left in box by the five-foot way). It was Koo who noticed them and alerted me. I then blogged for fosterers but no one responded, so I asked Maslinda if she could take the whole family. Maslinda agreed and we have pledged full subsidy for all their medical treatment, spay-neuter and food. Koo has agreed to rehome the kittens when they are big enough. Maslind...

Daisy And Dewey Are Ill (from The Fosterer) 16th Mar 2012, by AnimalCare
Daisy and Dewey became ill last night. It has something to do with their legs. Dewey is the one who is badly affected as it seems like his legs are in pain, and the pain appears to shift from one leg to another. Daisy has the same symptoms as well, but is not as bad as Dewey.
The fosterer texted me today, while she was at the vet’s with Daisy and Dewey. I asked her to check with the vet if it could be calici virus as shifting lameness is one of the symptoms of this infection.
The vet has p...

INJURED CAT 16th Mar 2012, by Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better
When Leslie when to Sungai Buloh to pick up some puppies, he spotted this cat which had a deep injury to its front paw. The wound had eaten up a big patch of skin and it was obvious that the cat was in terrible pain. So to cut a long story short - the cat is with us and is admitted at our panel clinic in Klang where the wound is being treated. Again, we would be grateful for help to see this poor fellow through his treatment.

They found the dog in a drain and believe had been sitting there unable to move and without food and water throughout the weekend. She was also very frightened and they think sh...

One of the three puppies was unable to move as it appeared to have suffered a back injury and bruises to its back legs. She also told us that whenever the resideents fed them, the two healthy puppies would bring food over to be shared with their injured sibling. Dr Goh visited the shelter one week ago (9th March 2012). It was a very hot day and needless to say, the shelter was hot too. And yet, Dr Goh still took the time to drop by.. Madam Wong (picture below) was also given her weekly jab to reduce the growth/tumour in her anus part. You can read more about what tricks Madam Wong can do here or read about how she has been doing lately here. She is actually a distemper survivor who was rescued by one of our volunteers, Sam.
