Baby Paloh's Case (a Baby Elephant Needs OUR Help) 29th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
UPDATES: Baby Paloh has been freed!! But please continue to source out any form of animal cruelty and send the news to me - I'll post it here and we can collectively do something constructive about it. For one who doesn't even have the time to read the newspapers or listen to the news, I am totally guilty of now knowing what is going on in the world around me except whatever I have direct contact with (unless it's a big enough event like Bersih!). So, I would really appreciate all of...

Fosterer Needed For Injured Cat 28th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Cathy Thong has just trapped and rescued a badly beaten-up cat. Cathy lives down my road and apparently there are 2 (intact) male cats who terrorised her area and attack other cats. The cat is wounded and there are blood stains on his face and head. But the consolation is that he has a good appetite. Cathy just came to borrow a cage and she will send the cat to our panel vet tomorrow for a check-up. We will sponsor the required treatment. Meanwhile, Cathy is urgently lookin...

Skipping Pooch Aint A Happy One 28th Jul 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
Meet Latte, the cutest toy poodle puppy you could ever meet! This little rascal runs at the speed of lightening and not even skipping was able to slow him down. This is a picture of him taken TODAY .
Latte is owned by one of our staff members and so we regularly see him. We noticed he had an abnormal hindlimb gait from the first time we met him. He was so tiny at that stage and would only just fit into the palm of your hand so we did not get too fixated on working him up. His owner hoped he wo...

Last evening, when I went for walk, he was again wondering around the street. I called him and he followed me...

Here's updates from Szetoo Weiwen on the 4 kittens that she rescued and have been fostering:Just to update you on the kittens, they're doing fine and two of them are drinking more and very active. Winnie Low Sends Her Rescues For Spay-Neuter 28th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
Winnie Low first contacted me to seek help to rescue a few dogs in North Port. Winnie suspects these may be abandoned dogs, and the piece of land where they reside in is totally barren. Winnie's father has been feeding them bread and leftovers. No one responded to her request for help, so Winnie thought she should just attempt to catch them herself, and she succeeded on Sunday. She caught two of the friendlier ones - a young mother-dog (now called Angel) and her young male puppy (now called ...

Human Cruelty Knows No Bounds (bear Bile) 28th Jul 2011, by AnimalCare
My friend sent me this and he told me it would make my heart bleed. It is excruciatingly painful for the bears and they endure this pain for YEARS. Not days or months, but YEARS.One day a baby bear was ...

Last week, Karuna Tan called me. She is 17 years old and has read all my books. Karuna found a litter of 2 kittens in the drainage of her school. As it was raining and the mother-cat was nowhere to be found, Karuna brought the kittens home. This is Karuna's first time nursing baby kittens. She fed them milk using a syringe, massaged their tummies and wiped their mouths after each feed (based on what she has read from Pawprints). Being her first time, she did not know what to feed the...

Jaffa And The Folding Chair 28th Jul 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
Jaffa is one very special puppy that got trapped in a folding chair and no one knew who caused the accident. She lost a few of her toes on her front legs & fractured her back leg in the process. She was stabilised and then surgery had to be performed to tidy up the damage on her front leg and surgically repair her fractured back leg. Ten minutes after we put her under anaesthetic, her heart stopped. She had to get intracardiac adrenaline and we managed to resuscitate her. We had to pre...
