Puteri Is On The Way To Better Health (sporo-Free)
18th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

I went to see Puteri today. She was tested positive for Sporotrichosis, treated with Itraconazole (supplemented with RetroMAD1) and the recent test turned up negative for Sporo, which is good news. She will still continue with the Itraconazole for another 2-3 weeks and the test will be repeated to ensure that there is really no more sporo growth.  After that, Puteri will be up for adoption. She's a very pretty little thing... And very active and playful, too. She wants to play...

Mimi In A Very Critical Condition
18th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

I went to visit Mimi today. Mimi is Mayo Clinic's other resident-cat. Her brother, Dodo, passed away last month of kidney problems (no warning, just one day, and that's it). Mimi also has kidney problems but has hung on (on drips) for four days now.... Mimi does not seem to be conscious. She has lost so much weight too. The vet says even while on drips, she is dehydrated. Her kidneys must have failed. It is so sad....yet, this is what we all might have to go through too, when our time c...

Snowy, In Critical Condition
18th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Is this a season of cat-sicknesses or is it because it's the seventh month in the Chinese calendar?I don't know, but coincidentally, many of our cases seem to be serious ones. And there have been more deaths than usual too. Say what you will, but I have noticed for decades that calamities, disasters and personal ill-fortune do strike a wee bit more during this infamous month where legend has it that Chinese suffering spirits are let loose from Chinese hells and they roam freely where Chines...

Wei Leng's "Only One"
18th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Wei Leng is 16 years old and her mum runs a hair-dressing salon down my road. This evening, Wei Leng and her domestic helper, June, came a-knocking at my gate with a little basket. There was a tiny little kitten in the basket and he did not look too well.Wei Leng was hoping I could tell what was wrong with the kitten or better still, if I could take over the kitten, but I can't. I said she'd have to ask her mum to bring the kitten straight away to the vet's. I knew a mother-cat had give...

After Amy left, it was Jessy Lian's turn with Wolverine and his mother, Mama-X.Jessy texted me today to say Wolverine had not been looking too well and seemed "wobbly", so I said not to delay and quickly bring him to our vet. The vet checked little Wolverine's reflexes. He doesn't look too good though he is the biggest of the litter. He just wanted to go back to Mama-X. Mama-X is a very good and protective mum. Checking all the facial reflexes. Here's the differential dia...

Nuzul And Terry At The Vet's
18th Aug 2011, by AnimalCare

Amy Tham brought Nuzul (yesterday's kitten) and another (abandoned) kitten, Terry, to our panel vet for a check-up today.   This is Terry.Terry was dumped at the restaurant and apparently, the workers had fed him "all kinds of food" and now Terry has diarrhoea. Anyway, the workers were not going to feed him anymore, so Amy took him home.  We'll look at little Nuzul first. Nuzul has a limping leg and cannot seem to control his bowel movement.Do you notice his whiskers are shor...
