Once in a while, I get the privilege of being a guest (and most definitely, the oldest) member of a local youth choir. This is when they have a performance coming up where I can participate in.
Rehearsals are on Fridays, so I was there this evening and...
Hello, hello....who is this?
A new member of the choir?
No, apparently this is a new member of the family! Or, should I say, a very old member? And why is that so?
Here's the story...
Citta (that is the name given to him now) came all on his own sometime before this year's Chinese New Year. Where did he come from? Nobody knows.
The next day after he came, the mum of the family struck a lottery. According to some cultural belief, she thought she should not keep the cat. So, they got the driver to send the cat off to an LRT station which was about 2 km away.
After a few days, Citta came back to the house!
Then, the mum went to ask a fortune-teller of sorts who told her that this is the rebirth of a son she had lost. Indeed, apparently, there was a miscarriage in the family - a son.
So, the family decided to keep the cat (the son?) and hence, Citta became (once again?) a member of the family.
Hey Brother-Cat! (Citta is already neutered...maybe by his former family?)
But this is my real family and this is my home...it took me so long to find it again.
Apparently, Citta made himself absolutely right at home on Day One itself as though this was his house and he knew his way around. Well, in a way, it IS his house, isn't it?
He even appears to understand English, and when asked to go for a car-ride, he would get into the car!
When he first came, he was quite skinny, but look at him now. Every member of the family feeds him - that explains his size now!
He seems to like the choir too.
When we rehearsed "You Raise Me Up", Citta was staring at the shrine room and his tail was tapping in time to the music. Yup, this is definitely a member of the family as the whole family is very musical.
Then, Citta came to read my score...
He stared at the score for quite some time...
And decided he should go to the keyboard to check out the chords... (We probably got it wrong, eh?)
Yes, he is checking out the bass alright...
Wham! He pressed the automatic play button and a whole song blared!
Everyone was so amused and tickled, everyone clapped and Citta ran all the way upstairs!
In a matter of seconds, he came down again....completely nonchalant to the whole thing!
Citta is definitely home, alright!
You ain't heavy, you're my brother...
