About a week ago, a friend asked if I had anymore RetroMAD1 to spare for a vet who had five parvo puppies. Four had already died, and one was hanging on. I only had a very tiny amount left but this was sufficient already. The RetroMAD1 was passed to my friend, who took it immediately to the vet.
Here's a report from the vet:
I'm using the serum you gave me for a Canine Parvo Virus case of mine at my clinic. Started on 16/9 together with my CPV treatment regime. Improvement seen are increase on appetite, stool consistency improve. CPV treatment Antibioticis Methronidazole 1/4 tabs once per day, Trimethroprime Sulphadizine 1/4 tab once per day. Supplements - Vitamin C 2 tabs once per day and liver tonic LIV-52 1 tab once per day. Diet is Science Plan intestinal canned and dry biscuits hypoallergenic for dogs.
We're really so happy another Parvo puppy has been helped by the RetroMAD1. It appears from our few cases, that, as verified by the scientists and researchers of this drug, RetroMAD1 helps in Canine Parvo Virus, Feline Pan Leukopenia (which is the parent virus of the CPV), Feline AIDS (FIV) and Leukemia (FeLV). It may not be helpful once organ failure has set in, and it is not to be used unless the animal is symptomatic.
For example, Bunny and Tiger are both FIV+, but non-symptomatic, so I should not use it on them.
I am indebted to Pamela Lim and Ruth Chow for alerting me to the availability of the RetroMAD1 when we were frantically searching for ways to help Winnie Low's rescued puppy, Brownie, who suddenly collapsed due to Parvo Virus. Brownie recovered within a few days, and is now happily living a pampered life in Winnie's home. I also wish to thank the scientists and researchers for giving us a small amount the drug so that we could share it with rescuers who agree to its use on their animals. In exchange, I provide data to the scientists with the hope that all these anecdotal data would help push the drug to be approved by our authorities.
So far, with the amount given to me, it has helped in the following cases (used as supplementary to the conventional treatment): 1. Brownie (Canine Parvo Virus) - recovered. 2. Puteri (Feline Sporotrichosis) - recovered. 3. RetroGirl (Canine TVT) - very fast recovery, now recovered.
Cases pending for more feedback: 1. Mama-Cat (Faucitis) 2. Ardie the cat (Gingivitis/Faucitis) Both of the above are FIV-positive.
Cases where it did not help: 1. Lolo the cat (only one dose given and the cat passed away of extensive bacterial infection on major organs). 2. Snowy the cat (lymphoma with pleural effusion, rescuer chose not to administer chemotherapy but only the RetroMAD1, Snowy passed away). 3. An FIP kitten (organ failure had already set in - passed away). 4. A distemper puppy (rescuer decided to euthanise). 5. A Parvo puppy (rescuer's vet decided to stop the RetroMAD1 as it was deemed not suitable - the puppy passed away after a few days).
This is based on my totally layperson's observation: In using any drug, we have to be realistic and understand what the drug is for so that we know whether it would help or not. If conventional treatment is required, then RetroMAD1 works better when used in tandem with it.
And once we have decided to try, I think what helps a lot on our part is the commitment to carry on, the diligence and responsibility to administer the drug correctly in the proper dosage, according to schedule and with follow-up, the faith that it will work and the serenity that even if it does not, we have done our very best.
With this last amount given to this parvo puppy, I have no more supply of the drug now. If you'd like any for your cases, please write to me at chankahyein@gmail.com and I will direct you to the proper channel for enquiries.
