We have had our staff upgrade the old quarantine centre of the livestock department in the last 2 weeks, so we can take in 180 dogs and 50 cats there.
All animals there have been identified, photos taken and marked for release back at exactly the same place where we found them. Some owners have already been in touch with us and they are happy to keep their pets here till the water has receded.
Volunteers are needed to care for the dogs and cats there, we provide housing at our wildlife rescue center (20kms distance) and full-board. Have now space for up to 12 volunteers.
Our boats have been taken away from Ayutthaya floods, and one of them has been delivered by myself to the Team of Bee, Soi Dogs in Western Bangkok being used to evacuate more animals.
As the temporary shelter is now filling up so rapidly and we expect to receive even more animals in the coming three days we will now clear a 12,000 square meter area that has been already fenced off with a 2.2 meter chain-link. In this field we will set up tents to protect the animals from sun and rain, place a few hundred hay stacks as enrichments and visual barriers to prevent fighting and stress. Some smaller enclosures will be set up in that field if found necessary. I expect to be able to take in 250-300 animals if needed. The field is at a distance of 400 meters from our rescue center and our clinic. This field should be ready by tomorrow afternoon to take in the first batch of dogs from the East of bangkok.
If possible we would like to spay as many dogs and cats before returning them, a fully equipped surgery room is available at our centre. Hope we can find soon some vets to help out.
