ACRES received some feedback with regard to the welfare of the polar bears at the Singapore Zoo. We had a fantastic meeting with the CEO and staff from the Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS) today during which we were brought to view the polar bears. The bears are currently housed in a smaller enclosure whilst their new and bigger enclosure is being built. However, they do have access to an outdoor enclosure, and steps have been taken to reduce the disturbance caused to them by the construction work. We are delighted that WRS reaffirmed their decision to phase out the keeping of polar bears once their current polar bears pass away. We look forward to our continued partnership with WRS.
