Rabies is a virus that may affect the brain and spinal cord of all mammals.
How Would My Dog Get Rabies?
Since animals who have rabies secrete large amounts of virus in their saliva, the disease is primarily passed to dogs through a bite from an infected animal.
It can also be transmitted when infected saliva makes contact with MUCOUS MEMBRANES or an OPEN FRESH WOUND. A lick by your vaccinated pet would not transmit to you.

If you happen to pick up any animal from the street, wet market areas, and any corner of our city, please bring the animal to the veterinary clinic for anti-rabies vaccination, before adopting it.
Monitor the newly adopted pet for 28days. Do not let your pet roams freely outside your house compound. Provide shelter, daily food and water, vaccinate it according to the vet's advice.

If only everyone starts to desex their pets, there wont be multiples of dogs and cats around.
If only people start to love their pets, there won't be any abandonments.
If there's no abandonment, there wont be any stray in the city.
If only everyone plays his/her role as responsible pet owner, our city wont be so chaotic with rabies issue.
Please desex your pets and stop breeding them. You won't want to contribute to the current over-supply of dogs and cats in our city, do you?

04.01.2018 - A group of students from Kolej Sunway Kuching’s ACCA course chose SSPCA as their MPU3412 Community Service project.
The students put in their hardwork and efforts and managed to raise money and used these funds to buy the most current needed neccesities - detergent, and to help out at the adoption campaign.
Thank you, students of Kolej Sunway Kuching. It is a blessing to work with, and thank you for putting so much efforts for our residents - cats and dogs.

Please be informed that with the current culling of free roaming dogs and cats by the councils, the animals caught are not brought into our shelter.
Kindly contact respective councils, Department of Veteterinary Services, or TaliKhidmat to claim your pet/s.

KUCHING: Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) is urging local councils not to capture stray dogs that have undergone the CNVR (Capture, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return) programme as they pose no threat and act as deterrent for unvaccinated dogs from entering their territory.
