STARBURST, A SECOND CHANCE 🌠
While undergoing sedation for sterilisation at the SPCA's Community Animal Clinic, Starburst had an adverse reaction to the drugs and went into cardiac arrest. Emergency resuscitation was immediately conducted and his heart started beating again! He was under a manual oxygen ventilator for 2 hours after, until he was conscious.
A kind vet fostered him and managed to nurse him back to health! He has since been sterilised at SPCA’s clinic, and has fully recovere...

Basic Dog Training Webinar. Our First Webinar Reco.. 23rd Feb 2021, by SPCA Singapore
BASIC DOG TRAINING WEBINAR
Our first webinar recording on basic dog training by trainer Angie Tan (@puppylove_sg).
Angie: “Make sure you’re not pulling against the dog, and not giving your dog a chance to pull you. Dogs have something called the opposition reflex. If you have any tension on the leash, the opposition reflex will kick in. The dog is not pulling you on purpose, you’re giving it no choice.”
“If your dog pulls, stop. Stand still, and your dog will release the tension. Re...

8 Lucky Puppies Over Cny. Community Caregivers Not.. 19th Feb 2021, by SPCA Singapore
8 LUCKY PUPPIES OVER CNY
Community caregivers notified SPCA’s TNRM (Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage) team about a dog that no one knew was pregnant. It was hard to track her down, but the team pressed on until they found her in an abandoned building with 8 pups trailing behind her! She was then trapped and brought to SPCA with her babies. Their eyes were still closed when they arrived at our shelter.
Mama has been nothing but sweet and accomodating throughout the nursing period. With good nutriti...

Happy Lunar New Year 🍊🧧🎉 12th Feb 2021, by SPCA Singapore
HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR 🍊🧧🎉
‘Fa Cai’ (me) and SPCA staff, Lawrence (I know it’s you..), wish you a ox-picious 2021.
Earlier in Nov 2020, I was ran over by a van and fractured my hip joints. SPCA took me in and a vet performed a Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO) to ease my pain and help me regain mobility. Since then, I’ve been going for walks with joy. My surgery would’ve normally cost $2,500 - $3,000 — it is thanks to your donations that community animals like myself have access ...

Happy Tales Amin. My Family Named Me Amin After A .. 28th Jan 2021, by SPCA Singapore
HAPPY TALES: AMIN
My family named me (Amin) after a triliteral root, hoping I would become a faithful companion — it worked! Here we are, celebrating my 5th adoption-versary.
Back then, it was I who chose them. The moment they entered the cattery, I snuggled in their laps. Black cats like myself often get overlooked so I had to put in EXTRA effort. That’s how they fell in love with me and my chonky-ness. (=`ω´=) TBH, dad was initially apprehensive due to superstition. But not anymore! W...

Cancer In White Cats. Did You Know That White Cats.. 25th Jan 2021, by SPCA Singapore
CANCER IN WHITE CATS
Did you know that white cats have a higher risk of skin cancer compared to other felines? This is often caused by sun exposure, which is why they need fur coverage! Squamous Cell Carcinoma is the most common cancer in white cats; it’s painful, disfiguring, and fatal if left untreated.
Pictured: October is a community cat with cancer on both ears. Advanced surgery was done at SPCA’s Community Animal Clinic to remove all cancer cells. Such treatments normally cost ~$1,50...

Special Needs Adoption Spotlight Lucy. Meowlo Im L.. 17th Jan 2021, by SPCA Singapore
[SPECIAL NEEDS] ADOPTION SPOTLIGHT: LUCY
Meowlo!! I’m Lucy! ฅ/ᐠ. ̫ .ᐟ\ฅ As you can tell, the first thing you’d notice about me are my lumps. I was rescued in May 2020 with rashes all over my body. SPCA’s doctor diagnosed me with MCT — a low-grade mast cell tumour (a type of skin cancer). Though I will itch all my life, my condition can be managed with medication. Don’t worry, future family, it’s not contagious and won’t affect other pets.
I will continue living with co...

Happy Tales Rex. Holla, This Is Rex. I Found A Hom.. 30th Dec 2020, by SPCA Singapore
HAPPY TALES: REX
HOLLA, THIS IS REX. I found a home!!! I first joined my family with lots of excitement (and kinda lost control 🙊). I chewed up shoes and furniture, ripped up pee pads, and even nipped my pawrents. Outside the house, I would bolt during walks.
But with positive reinforcement training with @mydogtrainer_mdt and check-ins from SPCA, I have evolved into Rex 2.0 — a well-behaved and sweet little rascal (my nickname). I will even patiently wait for food and signal that I am rea...

A Cat Christmas Tree. Spca Was Invited To Decorate.. 24th Dec 2020, by SPCA Singapore
A CAT CHRISTMAS TREE 🎄🐱
SPCA was invited to decorate a tree at Botanic Gardens, and cat ornaments are the only ornaments we need! Cats on trees however… are not always this cute. We wish to raise awareness about the High Rise Syndrome (HRS) problem in Singapore, as we receive around 5 cases per week of cats falling from height.
Reduce the risks of your cats being stuck on high places by keeping them safe indoors. Mesh up your windows and doors!

ADOPTION SPOTLIGHT: CHARLIE
Hi, it’s me, Charlie. I came into SPCA in February with a painful cut. Thanks to the clinic team, the pain was no more in a few weeks! Everyone calls me goodboi. I sleep well for a 3 year old, and I make a perfect lazy companion. (=`ω´=) I sometimes like my own “me” time, so if you’re like me, then I am the one for you! I have been here for a while now, and I am ready to go home. Shelter mum always says that whoever brings me home, will be the luckiest fami...
