Happy Tales Wells. Annie I Was Volunteering As A D.. 20th Oct 2020, by SPCA Singapore
HAPPY TALES: WELLS
Annie: “I was volunteering as a dog walker with SPCA once a week. Wells was chosen by the trainer for a dog walking demo session. He's nice looking, independent, and smart.
We adopted him, and everyone loves him! When it's time for medication and supplements, he will consume them with a wagging tail. As an adventurous boy, he loves visiting new places and meeting other dogs. However, he dislikes fruits and vegetables, thunderstorms, and us talking about his naughty deeds!...

DOG SURVIVES LONGEST SPCA SURGERY IN 2020 (WORLD VET NURSE DAY TRIBUTE)
Last week, a dog (Pancake) underwent SPCA’s longest surgery in 2020 thus far. The surgery was over 5 hours long, and over 60cm of intestines were removed.
X-rays revealed unfamiliar objects in his abdomen. Turns out, he had eaten a door stopper, which was chewed into three parts and entangled in pieces of towel. Most of the towel was stuck within his intestines, which were removed. The door stopper acted as an ‘anch...

CHOKING, HANGING AND STRANGLING OF ANIMALS: THIS NEEDS TO END
For several decades, SPCA has seen cases reporting the use of forceful and punishment-based animal training methods in Singapore, predominantly in dog training.
In a shocking 2017 case, a trainer used a pet dog’s leash to choke and hang the animal. He then strangled the animal’s neck with his hands till its eyes turned bloodshot, tongue blue, and it spluttered blood. Rachael, featured in the video, recounts what the trainer did...

ST JOHN'S CAT SWALLOWS FISH HOOK
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
SPCA recently returned to St John's Island (SJI) with SJI caregivers to microchip cats. The operation was a success with 14 cats microchipped! We couldn't have done it without the help of the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and St John's Island National Marine Laboratory (SJINML). SPCA had previously sterilised over a hundred SJI cats, setting up a temporary surgery room on the island.
