Our inspector was at PJ Magistrate waiting for Petknode's verdict. The owner of Petknode if found guilty of 30 charges (30 cats from 10 owners), will be charged under Animal Act 1953 Section 44 (1).
Next hearing on 28th June. Today, the owners of Petknode walk.

On 16 Jan we referred a case of illegal online selling of hedgehogs to the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (following a staff member's report). SPCA would like to thank AVA for investigating and taking action in this case. A man was prosecuted and fined $5,200 by the Court on 20 March, for having a total of 13 hedgehogs in his possession.

Medical Subsidy For A Newly Rescued Kitten, But Now R.I.P. (Maslinda Abd Talib’s)

Maslinda rescued a small kitten a few days ago and he had flu. So the kitten was brought to the vet for flu treatment. However, the vet noticed breathing difficulties, so an X-Ray was taken and he was found to have diaphragmatic hernia. Bronsyp Syrup and Clavamox were given for the time being, pending recovery before further treatment was to be administered for the hernia.
Sadly, the kitten passed away yesterday.
Maslinda named him “CT”, not knowing his gender at that time.

Super is discharged and back home with Maslinda now.
She was really going down earlier on and we were really worried. Every text message from Maslinda, I’d hold my breath before retrieving and reading it, fearing the worst.
But thanks to the treatment rendered, Super is now fine and has a good appetite again. While she was sick, she had stopped eating completely and even spat out food.

Smelling of sweat this humid evening is the least of the rescue team's worries.
Here on a cycling path laid a large, regurgitated monitor in the grasp of a young, slim reticulated python.
The python, or Slim Shady as we call him, has been safely relocated to the waters nearby and a group of passers-by, happy to share their environment with other species, bade farewell to him.
The smell of carcass decomposition around the rescue team, however, will probably linger for awhile more.

PUPPIES AT PLAY!...A few weeks ago a litter of 8 puppies were dumped at the Soi Dog gate. They were just 2 weeks old - 6 boys & 2 girls. These puppies needed bottle feeding every few hours & constant care & attention. Shelter manager Reggie looked after all 8 pups for several weeks as well as her full time job at the shelter!... This video shows the pups at approx 5 weeks of age, exploring the world & providing great entertainment!

ABANDONED CHIHUAHUA. This poor little girl around 8 or 9 years old has been found abandoned on the streets. Partially sighted, the main worry is that she is clearly severely depressed. Probably known only a home all her life she had no chance of survival on the streets and probably discarded because no longer beautiful. Extremely gentle little dog in need of a home again as soon as possible.

I-YA UPDATE. We have had many requests for an update on I-Ya who suffered horrendous injuries on Mai Khao beach a few weeks ago. We are delighted to report that she is now out of the clinic and is currently sharing a pen in our hotel area as looks like she will be going overseas.
