The Amazon Rainforest is burning. 73,000 fires have been recorded already this year - that’s 70% more than in 2018. Fires in the Amazon have been linked to deforestation, which has surged in recent months. This is a global crisis that cannot be ignored. The Amazon Rainforest contains 140 billion tonnes of carbon in its plants and trees and is home 1 in 10 known wildlife species on Earth. If this vital ecosystem continues to burn, the implications for life on Earth will be astronomical. To f...

The Mystery Of The Bloody Stools
27th Aug 2019, by AnimalCare

I’m talking about blood-tinged stools here. Last Sunday, I noticed two spots of loose stools tinged with blood and mucus on the sandpit at Bunny’s Place. Now, it was rather tricky to figure out who passed those stools because the sandpit is shared. I spent most of the day monitoring the movements of all the cats – Cow, Bunny, Pole, Cleo and Indy. None of them appeared to show any signs of being sick. Finally, I narrowed it down to Indy. The stools were at the spot that he frequ...

The New Sword And Sabre Guardian
27th Aug 2019, by AnimalCare

Tabs decided to take up Zurik’s duty of guarding our taiji swords and sabres. She also took up the position on top of the piano. That’s Zurik’s piano blanket. It was one of his favourite spots in the house. Tabs was friendly and sympathetic to Zurik during his indoor-stay of almost four months. Maybe they were friends and Tabs has decided to take up his duties now. It’s been 18 days since Zurik left us, but I still miss him very much.  He was such a good cat and loy...

Little Tickles has a long way to go before he is up for adoption. He was rescued and now he is fostered by his kind rescuers. We hope all the best for Tickles and his fosterers! Small kittens especially without their mothers are more prone to germs or viruses therefore leaving them in a shelter environment will lead to low chances of survival as we have other cats in the quarantine area. So next time when you rescue a small kitten, please consider fostering by bottle feeding it or put it up ...

Neutering Aid For 2 Cats In Shah Alam (Norazida Bt Md Dahari’s)
27th Aug 2019, by AnimalCare

We have provided an aid of RM200 for the neutering of these 2 cats. Ms Norazida is aiming to stabilise the colony of cats in her area. At the moment in my housing lane I have identified the number of cats that has not been neutered as below (numbers provided). Not all are friendly (1/, 2/ & 5/), only the 3 kittens can easily be approached.
