SARS-CoV-2 a.ka Covid-19 is a mutated new virus. There's no scientific proof that it can be or was transmitted from animals. First they suspected it was from bats and then from anteaters......but this is yet to be strongly supported by scientific data.

STATEMENT FROM SPCA SELANGOR
Despite hearing of COVID 19 cases in animals, there is still no evidence that pets can transmit the disease to humans. In fact it is the other way around. However, pets that had COVID 19 either showed no illness at all or recovered very quickly.
It is recommended to wash your hands before and after handling animals. If your pet is sick, please bring them to a vet to get them checked.
There is absolutely no reason to abandon pets.
