Inspectorate 2013 Cases
24th Jan 2013, by SPCA Singapore

We recently attended a case of 5 sparrows stuck on a glue board trap meant for rats at an office building on Henderson Rd. Although the trap was meant for rats and inconspicuously placed under a fridge, the sparrows were still able to get stuck on it. One of them was dead at scene. We tried our best to save the remaining four, but as more than 3/4 of their small bodies were covered in glue, very sadly, we were unable to. The board was placed by a licensed pest control company hired by the build...

PIG VISION - The Journey Of Two Brothers
24th Jan 2013, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

Which pig would you rather be? X15, or Jackpot? Jackpot is a lucky pig: His home is a sanctuary, where he can live a long and happy piggy life! Sadly, most pigs are not as lucky as Jackpot. Most spend their whole lives on factory farms being raised for meat, or being made to reproduce over and over again. This eye-opening video exposes the difference between the way pigs are meant to and deserve to live, and the way most pigs are kept (and eventually slaughtered). The only difference betwe...

The Kasih Dogs In Pet Therapy
24th Jan 2013, by AnimalCare

We often hear of good things happening to the street dogs and cats in other countries and lament why it isn’t happening in ours. For example, in the previous post, we hear of Romania using street dogs to help in road safety campaigns and how their court ruled against euthanising stray animals. Why can’t we have that too in our country? Sometimes, if we want to see a difference, we have to make that difference ourselves, and not wait for someone else to do it. Every individual can m...

Willy Of Orange, Abandoned Cat?
23rd Jan 2013, by AnimalCare

Lately, a full orange-coloured cat had been coming right into our patio. He is fully orange and appears to be an abandoned cat. Someone had recently moved out of the neighbourhood, and Willy could have been left behind (poor guy) as he just appeared out of the blue a few days ago. Well, I’m calling him Willy, after William of Orange, the founder of Netherlands. No specific reason, just because he is so orange in colour! He has a beautiful coat which indicates he has been well looked after...

The Serai Tale
23rd Jan 2013, by AnimalCare

Tabs had been “escaping” a lot these days. She seems uncomfortable in Bunny’s Place, living amongst titans, so the moment we get out of the room, she will sneak out, as quick of lightning. And usually, I find her looking at Rosie’s family and her favourite place is the serai (lemongrass) tray. She will always be there, chewing on the leaves. So I decided to bring the serai tray into the pantry. Maybe Tabs would at least be happier to have her serai to chew on… But ...
