Still Taking Baby Steps Forward… 1st Jun 2015, by AnimalCare
Baby steps are better than no steps, and the smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.
We have taken baby steps in the last six years in doing what we can to help street animals and their caregivers. Although numbers do not really matter, but it is gratifying to know that 6472 street animals have directly benefited over the years (in neutering, medical treatment and e-rehoming) plus more through our Food Fund (closed last year) and the ongoing education on kindnes...

Thanks so much to the Jonathan family for adopting Sonic! She was difficult for us to rehabilitate because she was so terrified of everyone and everything. After many weeks of hard work we built her confidence to the point where she could go for walks and come to our adoption drives. It's all paid off as Sonic has found a perfect Forever Home where she hangs out with the cats, has plenty of laps to sit and gets fed rotisserie chicken!
A BIG thank you from the whole SPCA team! Every dog that's a...

Owner Throw It Out Of The Car And Leave.牠被主人从车子上抛出.. 1st Jun 2015, by SPCA Ipoh
This is a very sad case, someone witnessed its owner throw it out of the car and leave.
It is a mixed breed Labrador, about 2 years old, tame.
A very large injury was found at its neck, our volunteer rushed it to the vet. After vaccinating, it felt better but due to the shelter is full and no more large cages for it, we have no choice but to keep it at an empty land. That was not an ideal spot for it, so we hope that it can be adopted.
We hope that owners do not abandon their pets.
To keep it, i...

These are snares and bird traps, found not far from the Gerik-Jeli Highway which cuts across the Belum-Temengot Forest Complex, one of WWF-Malaysia's tiger research areas. Based on the size of the wire snares, it was apparent that the poachers were targeting large mammals, including tigers.
Putting more people on the ground for research and patrolling helps reduce to number of poachers that encroach into our forests. You can help us do this by supporting our project at http://bit.ly/1IC31el

Seriously After Meeting 'Kai', I Grow Even More Fo.. 31st May 2015, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
Seriously after meeting 'Kai', I grow even more fond of the canine species. Poor thing just had her nose almost chopped off by another dog and was still wagging her tail and seeking pats and treats. She required emergency cosmetic surgery to place her right nostril back into position. And voila this is her post operative picture with her brighter than ever. You wouldn't even know she has been through so much trauma. Gosh I love dogs. <3 <3

Reaching Out To The Young 31st May 2015, by AnimalCare
Yesterday evening, I was invited to address a group of young Buddhists at the Buddhist Gem Fellowship. They were 12-17 year olds.
It was an informal gathering codenamed “Whispers of the Heart” where the participants wrote down their questions anonymously and I would answer them. Their questions were very interesting, challenging (for me!) and even unexpected! It was an eye-opener for me, especially when I would readily confess that I am a little bit out of touch with the last of Ge...
