All Peaceful Outside 1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
Mr G is a regular at meal-times these days.
All is peaceful at the patio. There are no fights, except for Timmy trying to get to everyone’s food because he eats at lightning speed.
Licking every platter clean, Timmy?
Timmy has no where to go. This is his home.
He is really, really good-natured and very well-behaved.
He’s just extremely hungry most of the time (but he is dewormed). A natural big-eater, I would say.
My G still hangs out at the Stargate after meals.
He h...

Pole Goes All-Dory 1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
About once every month, Pole goes “Dory” for a few days.
That’s when she dashes all over in a make-believe game of being chased by “someone”.
We call it the “Dory Syndrome”, after the Dory character in Finding Nemo.
Someone’s after me!!
She hid under the bench, and is now coming out, but with great caution.
(Actually, nobody is chasing her at all.)
Cleo watches her mum, a bit confused.
Pole does this about once a month, so we are quite used...

Dental Disease In Pets, The Silent Killer – Part 1 1st Apr 2013, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
This is a subject very close to my heart. Ever since I graduated, I always struggled with educating my clients about the importance of dental hygiene in their beloved pets.
As soon as I noted some tartar or plaque build-up on their pet’s teeth and before I could discuss my recommendations, they would defensively react by saying:
“Look the previous vet said my dog is too old to undergo a general anesthetic and I agree with his/her opinion”.
At that point, they were not...

Suffering Is… 1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
…when there is an electrical power outage (failure), which was what happened from around 11am today until a few minutes ago.
That’s when we comfort ourselves by saying that a water cut would be much worse…wouldn’t it? (You can’t flush the toilet, yucks!)
At least we’ve still got water, right? We can always fan ourselves by using a cardboard.
And yes, the internet’s out, because the router is out. The fan is out and the lights are out (luckily it’s ...

Oh No! Spider-Cat Strikes Again!! 1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
It’s not like we haven’t been on our toes, we checked Indy’s nails last week and even though they were still short and blunt, we trimmed off the ends.
This morning, Bunny was trying to tell us something, but me being dumb (yes, so dumb!) didn’t realise it.
Well, I knew something was amiss, because Bunny did not come for breakfast.
Bunny didn’t come for breakfast????
Yes, he did not.
Instead, he was mooching at the “Corner of the Great Escape”. He even st...

Sporotrichosis In Cats 1st Apr 2013, by AnimalCare
In the last two days, I’ve received three enquiries on the treatment of sporotrichosis in pet cats. All three are pets, not strays or newly rescued cats.
There is cause for concern if they are pets. As far as we know, sporotrichosis is not seasonal. It is a fungal disease and cats are known to be infected by it through puncture wounds and bites (usually from fights).
This article: http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm? c=1+2134&aid=358 talks about the treatment and prevention:
What...
