I have been sitting here for weeks now. Everyday I look out hoping someone will come take me home...But sadly, no one came so I continue to pray...and pray...and pray...to you every night before I sleep, hoping my prayers will soon be answered...

WOLF FAMILY SAVED IN SERBIA

We're working with an extraordinary rescuer in Serbia. This is a land where wolves are regularly hunted. Surviving pups are "raised" by hunters who save them for future hunts. But not this time...
The wolves you see here has just been rescued by Dejan, our hero on the ground in Serbia. Dejan lives very, very modestly trying to find enough food for the wolves and for the 160 dogs who have found unconditional love at his shelter.

The orangutans in Indonesia are sending out a little thank you card tonight to Harmony Fund supporters who helped buy an xray machine. This equipment will be used to diagnose broken bones and bullet wounds on new arrivals at the rehab center run by International Animal Rescue. Yes, the journey has begun. Three tractor trailer trucks full of dog & cat food, beds, medicines and other supplies are leaving Germany today and headed to Romania. These goodies will be shared amongst several shelters and soon 40 volunteers will descend on the Campulung shelter for a major renovation to keep the dogs warm and dry next winter. Our animal care update for this week features our Giant Asian pond turtles (Heosemys grandis). Giant Asian pond turtles are a semi-aquatic species of turtles found in South-East Asia. Unfortunately, they are considered extinct in Singapore and therefore housed at our rescue centre. Boltz, who is our biggest Giant Asian pond turtle, was found along Yishun dam where he was run over by a lorry. He endured months of pain and treatment and has since successfully recovered.

I’m amazed at her confidence, really. The only other cat who had ever displayed such confidence was Tabs.

RIP, Abang The Cat (Salina Abd Bakar’s)

On 30th April, we helped to subsidise Abang’s treatment for a large wound on the side of his body.

Willy Continues To Improve

The dinner dose of medication went well. I wrapped the tablets into two separate balls of wetfood and managed to pop it in. However, Willy spat out the Metronidazole twice. I guess this tablet must be really as bitter as the vet had cautioned it to be.
All afternoon, Willy was quiet (settled, I hope) and he took naps too. It was also partly due to the heavy downpour that he was quiet. I covered his cage with extra towels during the downpour to keep him warm.

Willy is not as docile and scaredy as I thought him to be…
I checked his food and found that he had cleverly picked out the piece of quartered Metronidazole (which I’m told is bitter) and placed it on the tray below.
So, like it or not, I had to garner all my courage and try the “scruff” method of force-feeding. The trick, I was told, is to grab the scruff firmly so that the cat cannot move his head. Then plonk the tablet into his throat and rub the chin to make him swall...

Willy Day 2 (morning)

I was undecided whether to try force-feeding Willy his medicine (like they do it SO easily at the clinic even on the most ferocious feline) or to just mix it with his wetfood.
I took the cowardly way out….and mixed it with his wetfood.
Oh well, I cannot afford to get a bite since my thumb (that got scratched yesterday) is still one-and-a-half times its size.
Willy was hungry enough, so….yay!
But hold your horses….not so “yay” after all (wait…).
