The Anti-Pitbull Breedist Legislation 4th Sep 2011, by Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal
Firstly, I would like to pay my deepest condolences to the Victorian family that witnessed their toddler attacked and killed by their neighbor’s pit bull. I totally empathize with the mourning of this Victorian family and definitely support stricter laws being enforced by the government. These laws should include harsher penalties for the owners of un-contained aggressive dogs to prevent any accidental injury or death.
Often the pet is euthanized after it has severely i...

Cruelty At Its Worst (more Updates At 9.30pm) 4th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
The KTAJ rescuers arrived with the cat. I was already there waiting for our vet, who was coming all the way from Kajang. It so happened our vet also had to attend to some dogs at the clinic, so we were lucky. This cat did not look so bad, but according to the rescuers, he looked really sick while at the boarding house. Yes, it is always best not to take chances with animals. His bottom half is filthy - he must have been sitting in pee and poo for a week, and had been without food...

Updates On 4th Sep 2011 4th Sep 2011, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)
Through our concerted effort to post comments on RWS FB page over the weekend, we have shown that they are not open to a dialogue about their plans to hold wild-caught dolphins captive. We have shown that they rather delete your comments or ignore them than to respond to your concerns. The questions now really are: Do you trust RWS? Do you trust a company that is not open to public feedback? Do you trust this for-profit company to look after the welfare of the remaining 25 wild-caught dolphins?

Cruelty At Its Worst (the Pet Boarding Case) 4th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
I contacted Wani over this case and Wani got the rescuers to send the sickly cats to the vet in PJ. So I drove down there to wait for them in case any downpayment was needed for these cats. The important thing is to get them treated first to save their lives. The next step would be to locate their owners to take them back. The cats soon arrived. There were six of them. These are the worst of the lot, I was told. This poor, poor cat was in very, very bad shape. She is all skin and bones...

A 3 year old shihtzu was found by one of our volunteers. Its lower jaw was totally dislocated from the upper jaw. Dr Zamzi and Dr Lee suggested surgery to fix the problem. The surgery would cost rm2.5 to 3k and will take 5 to 6 hours time. We were trying to raise funds to support the little shihtzu's medical fee n surgery however, the shihtzu was not able to make it through the surgery. For those who have cared for this poor shihtzu, we thank you profusely. Rest in peace, little one.

Do We Need Crocodiles In Our Lives? (Inside A Chinese Walmart) 4th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
A friend sent me photographs taken inside a Walmart in China. There were frozen crocodiles (the whole animal with an orange coloured ball stuffed into its open mouth - see below), frozen reptile parts, waxed pig faces, whole frogs, etc., all of sale. I shall spare you the other disturbing photographs.Time to reflect on the stuff we eat, wear and use, folks. Crocodiles, pigs, cows, dogs, cats, goats, chickens, ducks and all animals fear death, too, and I don't think we want to die befo...

On The Home Front 3rd Sep 2011, by AnimalCare
Today, there were no cases at the vet's and I had the whole day at home. It's been a sweltering hot day. Looks like nobody wants the favourite chair tonight. Watching Desperate Housewives is a treat for me. Note: Cleo is on top. This morning, apparently, Cleo scolded everyone in the bedroom. You see, it's her duty to wake us up every morning and don't anybody try to upstage her in doing her job. This morning, Cow, Bunny and Indy got ticked off by her (and the three crouched in fear). Sh...
