From one of our members : "There's a stray dog sitting along the highway from Damansara to Mont Kiara (nearby the exit to Hartamas) this morning at 9.30am. Anyone passing by there, could you keep an eye if the dog is still there? If so, could SPCA go help the poor dog?" - anyone in this area can check and see if the dog is still there?

Foster families are always welcome. You get the best of both worlds. You get a pet in your home which you can always return if it's adopted or if you feel you REALLY cannot handle one. And of course you'll be doing the animal a whole lot of good by caring for it in a home environment so that it'll be used to human contact.

A STRANGER IN OUR FERAL COLONY: This cat wandered into a managed feral colony a couple months ago. It took me all summer to finally catch him. After undergoing double surgery, biting a vet tech and then surviving his first 4 days in quarantine, dear little "Fluffy Face" is beginning to show me signs that he's not feral. He allowed me to stroke his fur gently with the rounded top of an umbrella today as he laid curled up in his bed in a roomy cage. Next step is to try to pet him with a bite-...

The Press Conference (Cruelty At The Boarding House)
5th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare

I've often avoided these publicity functions unless I can contribute in some useful ways, so when Wani and KTAJ invited me to be present for the press conference this evening, I asked in what way my presence would be useful. Wani said it was to show support and solidarity of the many animal welfare NGOs.  Alright, for that purpose, I'll go.The reporters were there. It was a full hall. Many of the pet-owners whose pets had been victims of this scam were present. Others were concerne...

Alarie Brings In A Female Cat
5th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare

Alarie wrote to me a few days ago, requesting help for a female cat and her new kittens (3 months old).  The cat is in the box. SO obedient? Oh wow...that's nice.Alarie has been looking after her for more than 3 months now. She came to Alarie's house when she was pregnant and has since delivered and finished breastfeeding her babies. Where are the kittens, I asked?  I had thought we would get the kittens dewormed. Well, what do you know? Alarie said our other panel vet offered to ...

Today we had two cats in for spaying. One was Mama-X from Jessy Lian. Mama-X is estimated to be at least 11 years old and was still "actively" giving birth. Mama was spayed today, with no mishaps (thank heavens!). She was put on drips throughout the surgery and during recuperation. The vets said she appeared to be a strong and healthy cat. Here's Mama-X after surgery, still on drips to be on the safe side.Jessy Lian stayed throughout the surgery to wait for Mama-X. 5th Sep 2011, by Animal Concerns Research & Education Society (ACRES)

Resorts World has blocked quite a number of us from their FB page. When you post comments on their FB page now, only your FB friends can see your comments, the other 147,000 RWS FB fans cannot see your comments. The questions really are: Does Resorts World have something to hide?, Why won't they let their FB fans see our views and concerns? Please help to post comments on their recent posting.

Cruelty At Boarding House - Photo Update Of The "Dying" Cat
5th Sep 2011, by AnimalCare

Maslinda sent this photo, taken when she visited the three cats boarded at the vet in PJ today. The cat is at least sitting up and that is a good sign. You'd see that the body has been shaven - three cats were brought in in this condition yesterday. I checked with a vet and she suggested that perhaps the cats were so hungry (or maybe even traumatised), they bit off their own fur, or each other's fur.
