Of Green Trees, Squirrels And Futuristic Brilliant Apes 14th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Remember the resident squirrel in my kitchen? Well, he comes several times every day to eat the left-over catfood and even has his own foodbowl in Mac's place in my backyard. I think he resides in a tree in my next-door back neighbour's backyard as I often hear shuffling noises amongst the green leaves. One day last week, I came home from work and heard very loud drilling sounds at the back of my house. To my horror, my next-door back neighbour's whole backyard had been torn do...

From Strays...to Community Animals 13th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Today, when we brought the market cats to our panel vet, he remarked that they are not strays, but are community cats. Well, yes, and that's because the market folks like Ah Fatt and the stall owners feed these cats and they are no longer afraid of humans. Christopher even prepares a small little cat-sanctuary for them to keep them safe and clean.Even the cats in Asia Cafe are fed by some of the stall owners. In a way, these cats could be luckier than some of the cats in our ow...

Updates On Bushytail 13th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Bushytail is getting better by the day! Even the vet said it's very "impressive improvement". Take a look at her today...She's sitting up and later, she even stood up. However, she ate a bit too much after the operation and she has developed diarrhoea now, but it's nothing serious. The vet said Bushytail can already be discharged since all she now needs is daily dressing and a change of bandage and the sanitary pad (yes, they use that to cushion the sutured wound). Th...

I've been talking to my colleague, Nazlina, about what AnimalCare does for some months now. A few weeks ago, she told me she was planning a project for her General Studies students, so I suggested that she may wish to consider doing a CNRM project for the market cats and the cats on that road from the college leading towards the market. So, everything was arranged and today was the big day! I had enlisted the help of Ah Fatt and Mr Christopher Teng, both of&...

Anuradha Koirala, CNN Hero 2010 13th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
This is not about animals, rather, it is about doing something for the the needy and underpriviledged. It is so inspirational, I simply have to share it with the hope that it would inspire all of us to think of the less unfortunate, be it human or animal, and to do something beneficial for them, before it's time for us to leave this world. People often say that charity begins at home, that's true, but it should not stop there. Watch this, and be inspired:https://www.youtube.com/...

Now, Where Is The Sunny Kitten's Toilet??? 12th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
As you've read, the Sunny Kittens had not poo-ed for a few days ever since they started on kibbles. The vet said it was okay as none of them were constipated. Rex and Fox had no faeces while Honeybear only had a wee bit.But in the afternoon, I had smelled something in the room. Tried as I did, I could not find the poo. After a fun-filled session of play, play, play! I noticed Rex and Fox love going into the playhouse. Honeybear has started to eat kibbles n...

The USJ Family Day Event 12th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Yesterday was an extremely humid day. I was delayed at the vet's, so Mary was already there with all the tshirts by the time I arrived. Thank goodness we had loaded all the tshirts in her car the night before. CP and husband, Lim and son, Jen Kynn were on hand to help us set up. The carnival started at 5pm and the crowd trickled in. This lady in the photo owns a petfod shop in Kota Damansara and she explained to me that they do not sell pets, just petfood ...

The Sunny Kittens Go For A Check-Up 12th Jun 2011, by AnimalCare
Honeybear had not pooped for five days now, and I was getting really worried. While I know constipation is not life-threatening and sometimes, there may not be much poo when kittens are solely on milk, Honeybear had already been eating soaked kibbles for 3 days now. So, off the three went to the vet's for a check-up.It was an incredibly long wait.... Rex is always the bravest of them all. Honeybear just wants to play...Since we had to wait, CP was still there and it was so n...
